Whats next?
I went to the first court date for this current charge, we sat there for two and a half hours, and all they did was set two more dates. The next one on the 30th is where he will enter his plea and then they decide if there will be a jury trial. I haven't been able to talk to him yet so I don't know what he is thinking. We tried to corner his lawyer but he was very rude and abrupt all he said is they were thinking civil commitment "the way he sees it".
And as if the day wasn't stressful enough, (my own stalker showed up). It seems he has been keeping in contact with my son and his aunt and uncle all this time. It seems my son lets it happen because he gives him money. Mr Creepy "as I call him",even bought my son a car and helps him work on it. Nice, to find out they are encouraging the man who did such damage to my life. That has been an issue since 2009,and the restraining order has expired. I thought I was in the clear because I changed jobs, moved and got a different car, but it seems all that was pointless.
He is my son, but he is soooo hard to love. He has caused such heart ache for so many. Especially his little sister, and it doesn't seem to sink in for him. At this point I am thinking they are right about the civil commitment, at least I will know where he is, and that someone is keeping an eye on him.

OMG could you tell me more about the \"civil commitment\"\' option his lawyer mentioned sounds like even before the hearing on these charges. Was your son in prison before? How does this happen from arrest straight to civil commitment?

This is my boys fourth charge, he has been in jail and inpatient treatment. This time he used the internet whitch is a big time federal offence. He has been a registered offender since the age of thirteen. from what little I know about civil commitment is that it is supposed to be rehabilitation centered, they are supposed to earn their way out, but here in Minnesota that is hard to do. They like to keep them for life. At this point he is considered a habitual criminal. The stalker is an ex I met online. We dated for two years. He is schizophrenic and hears voices from God. He thinks he is supposed to be with me because God said so. He just cant let it go. He also thinks he is a profit.
I emailed a person whose son is in Civil Commitment in Ill. She\'s a friend and she asked me to forward info regarding Minn Civil Commitment facilities to you. She also wanted you to know that her son tried to commit suicide twice and given all the non-treatment he receives in Civil Committment she is afraid he may succeed one day. You need a support system and if you get an e-mail from the woman whose son is already \"committed\" she will certainly understand and support you over the long haul in this and she has other friends whose sons are in the same/ similar situations...Thought possibility of being able to file petition through the court/ legal system for release or redress later. I think of you often and hope you feel supported and realize you are alone in all this
