What To Think, How To Feel
Oh Boy!
Hubby's appt at the respiratory hospital had an interesting twist. I told him that I was going to ask the technician abt an ABG(arterial blood gas) test that so far no one seemed to want to do & we wanted to know why. He readily agreed. He leaves alot of that up to me cause I don't mind demanding & being a bit of a poop disturber for the sake of our health. He was only scheduled for the usual walk test which would be a total waste of everyone's time. So we got called in & I asked abt it. The technician said that mostly they will look at the SAT level(oxygen saturation) & if it's high enough they feel the ABG is not warranted. So far his SAT's always seem to come out at close to 90%. But this open minded technician said he could do an ABG, he didn't mind at all & it was up to us. I left that decision up to hubby & he decided he wanted it done. Here's where things are interesting, the ABG came out really low, although hubby can't remember the exact result he thinks it was only at abt 60 or 59% or something, way off from what the SAT level was. Talk abt being a good candidate for home oxygen. But because his specialist did not request an ABG specifically, well what can I say. The hospital will forward the ABG results to our specialist who will note gee I didn't ask for this & will demand that we go back & have it done again. The technician said he'd probably have to see us there again in several weeks. Boy oh boy.
His cancer clinic appt, honestly, was not what we had expected. Previously his PSA was 0.5 which is fantastic. His PSA done a couple wks back is now 8.8 which means his prostate cancer is active again. For the rest of the day yesterday it hung around us like an elephant in the room. I think we were both stunned & numb & had no idea whatsoever to think or feel. The dust is settled a bit today & life goes on. He's on an oral hormone med for abt 28 days then will be receiving hormone injection treatments for a few times. We're both more or less OK, we can look at that elephant in the room & give it the best fight we can, hold as strongly to faith as we possibly can & move forward as best we can.
As for me, I'm OK I guess, I'm not really flaring, so I guess that makes me OK. I wave between feeling positive & strong & feeling like I don't quite know how I'm feeling so I guess I'm pretty normal right.
Spring is truly hiding on us man oh man. We've got a bitter cold wind going on & below normal temps staying around for a bit. It's like we can see spring on the horizon & just can't quite grab hold of it. When it does get here man oh man are most of us ever gonna go a bit crazy.
Anywho I'll finish for now. Remember I so love all of you so very much.

Oh Kitty, that darn elephant in the room! So sorry about your husband\'s PSA level being up...prayers and hugs.... fight that sucker! So, I\'m surprised that you\'re a s--t disturber, good for you. Ya have to with healthcare, it may be free in Canada but they\'ll do the minimum and send you home before you should be leaving. Spring? What spring? I expect it around April 1, NO fooling! xxoo
Well, I\'m really sorry to hear that about his PSA numbers. That is an elephant for sure, and I know it it a shock. Is it too early to say that he\'s done well fighting it before and can do that again? I understand how hard this is to process, as I am having my own issues with that and sometimes hearing things from others can mean different things at different times. I am praying for you both. God loves you and so do I. Sending out love and hugs to you and hoping you find a nice soothing spot of peace to setting into.
Dear Sweet Kitty, I was so sorry to hear about Mel,s PSA numbers. That sure would scare me too. But aren\'t we lucky to know that God answers prayers. We all will be praying for you and Mel. I am glad to asked about getting his gas level checked. At sounds like he needs to be on oxygen and he will feel better. As always you and Mel are in my prayers. I will call you tomorrow after you get back from church. love, Frieda
