What To Expect From Indoor Playground?

If you live in an area such as we do in Western New York (we are in Rochester!) With beautifully warm summers and cold snowy winters, you will understand that your choices for your kid's birthday party are mostly dependent on the weather.
As an August baby, we constantly had little family parties outside at my house. However, with sons born in November and March, we're constantly left to reserve an indoor venue for their celebrations, if we chose to have them that year. While those with children with summer birthdays may seem blessed to have numerous choices at their disposal, it can also often feel overwhelming.
While in Climbing Vines Cafe and Play we may be biased because we host indoor parties, I wanted to share with you the 5 most common reasons we hear from past celebration customers to reserve indoor summer birthdays with us. To them, the stress-free nature of the indoor summertime party is a no-brainer, plus they're not looking back! Following their initial indoor summer party, they continue hosting with us year after year.

1) NO WEATHER WORRIES

The most common cause for a client to book a summer indoor party with us is they do not have to stalk the weather forecast for upgrades in the weeks leading up to the party. And if you've ever had to cancel or postpone your child's birthday due to weather, then you know how heartbreaking that could be.
We get dozens of calls each summer a couple of days before somebody's outdoor celebration is supposed to happen to find out if we have an open slot for them in our indoor party venue because of weather woes. We can usually pull this off if the spot remains open, but hosts will unfortunately have to scramble and let all their guests know of the change in venue and probably shift in time, and change all of their catering orders to accommodate their new party program.
While of course rain is most likely the biggest obstacle you might face, intense warmth, unseasonably cool weather, and end may also pose issues to your food, decorations, along with your guests' belongings. You'll likely end up investing in a kayak another weather barrier just to ease your mind somewhat, which are costly and take a great deal of precious time to prepare and take down. I won't even tell the story of the time my Dad put a tent up for a celebration in a windstorm and wound up with a insurance coverage for 4 ruined automobiles when it withdrew (weights and anchors and all!) ...

2) CHANGING IT UP

Besides the obvious weather worries you can avoid with a indoor celebration, there can also just be something really simple and lovely about a indoor summer party. Guests won't need to worry about bringing towels and sunscreen and sunglasses and swimsuits and changes of clothes and insect spray... you get the picture.
Sometimes it's wonderful to take a brief break from the outdoors, sip coffee in an air borne cafe, also have a real conversation with other adults while the kids arcade games play, rather than chasing kids around trying to get their hat on them keeping them away from your in-ground pool. I'm not sure about you, but I could never quite relax at an outdoor summer birthday celebration with a two and a 4 year-old. While they sure do have a good time running around, we usually leave at a daze or with a tantrum, unsure if we even had time to chat or check in with everybody.
While I absolutely love a fantastic barbecue or summer grilling extravaganza, I also find it refreshing when we could take a rest from the same-old backyard bash and spend a few hours in a relaxing, cool, and most importantly-- contained! -- atmosphere.
It's also freeing as a guest to have the rest of the day to do as we want as a family, not need to worry about getting the kids to a bath immediately after the party or stopping home to cool off and change clothing.
I promise that in the event you reserve an indoor celebration for your son or daughter, guests (particularly family) may appear a little confused at first (why not take advantage of the summer weather while we can, right?) But after hosting hundreds of indoor parties I will tell you for sure that on the day-of, you and your guests will realize how pleasant it can be to kick back in an air-conditioned private party for a few hours.

Speaking of how relaxing a indoor, air-conditioned party can be, how can we discuss food for a moment? Not only are food choices limited with an outside party due to heat, but it can be hard to keep food covered and keep the bugs, bees, and other debris off.
At the moment, my sweet 4 year old boy is terrified of bees, and the quickest way to send him into a tailspin would be for him to sit down to eat a cupcake or his meal and also have bees swarming around. So, for our loved ones, the meals factor alone would be sufficient to justify an indoor celebration.
Eating in peace without having to find shade or a chair or a place away from bugs is one of those things that you don't realize can be so glorious before you attend your fourth or fifth outdoor summer gathering and THEN get a rest from them. Among the most common things we hear is how fine it's to sit and eat and see the kiddos play with no any venue-related cares or concerns. This is going to be especially important when you're going to be having elderly family members attend who will struggle with being portable in the sand or marijuana and finding seating at outdoor parties.

While celebration aesthetic might not be a determining factor for each and every household, it sure is much easier to create a themed extravaganza that lights a child's face up as soon as the party's inside. The decorations required tend to be less because the place is smaller and included contained, and you won't need to worry about balloons and streamers blowing all about or securing table covers down.
Since we do host mobile events outside at Climbing Vines Cafe and Play, I can also speak from experience when I say the time that it takes to set up (and take down!) Decorations for an outdoor party compared to an indoor celebration usually ends up being at least double. Finding great places to hang banner, needing two people to hold and protect everything, and finding weights or other restraints for everything may be a genuine hassle on celebration.
And you'll have enough to be concerned about this afternoon, right?
Also, if your pinterest boards are full of adorable figurines, a candy bar, or anything which could possibly be affected by wind (or bring bees!) You will likely have to restrategize to get an outdoor soiree.
And of course decoration typically can only be utilized once if used outside, but repurposed again and again if used for an indoor event. Our guests who sponsor indoor events, especially those who spent significant money into decoration or worked hard to create their own, are very happy to find they can usually create a huge chunk of the cash back by reselling their materials something such as Facebook Marketplace.

Speaking of money, probably the biggest misconception I hear from clients is they want to sponsor a party in their home to save the leasing fee of an indoor area. I usually laugh at this because it makes perfect sense, in other words, if you have never hosted an outside celebration.
With all the"extras" such as tents, seat rentals, extra decorations, weather reinforcements, cleanup provides, games and activities for your children (that you won't need to supply at a play place!) It is very likely you will wind up spending MUCH more hosting a party at your house or an outside venue than you'd indoors.
I'm not sure how other indoor spaces manage their supplies, but we only charge guests for additional beverages and provides and these on the day of the party should they end up needing themand we also enable parties to attract in their OWN meals, dessert, and decor should they choose!
Money aside, spending countless hours cleaning before, during, and after the party may also take a toll. Would not it be nice to walk into a sparkling clean space and depart with your guests once the party's over, not needing to be concerned about the cleanup, garbage removal, tent teardown, etc?
You can just head home and relax with your family (yes, maybe outside!)
In addition to the time spent cleaning prior to and after the party, wouldn't it ALSO be nice to not need to play"host" during the event? Even for clients that make their own food and decor, our dedicated party assistants set up everything, refill and mend food and beverages as needed, clear dishes, cut and serve the cake, and package up all the leftovers at the end of the party!
In the end, it is your child's special day and you wish to spend those precious hours making memories and visiting with your guests-- not running around chasing your decorations or refilling the fruit bowl innumerable times.
So save everybody (and especially your family!) Lots of anxiety, time, and worry by booking your event with us this summer. We would be honored to offer you an easy, breezy experience that will leave your entire guest list feeling refreshed, thankful, and full of love after having a relaxing (yet fun-filled!) day together.
