What's up with me.
Okay.
It's been a while since I chirped in here at this wonderful site. I visit every morning, still, but haven't participated...
So I have been moderately busy lately. As you can guess, that means those alpha types are busier but for me, I am doing things.
It's been trying for me but you know what? I am still going. I am doing "okay". My wife still has her moments of using me as an emotional punching bag, but I don't take it inwards so much anymore. Sometimes I even punch back.
last night she took my daughter to basketball practice, and it was a really late prectice and DW comes home and finds the kitchen all messy, and seh started complaining. I let her talk. I had been busy on the latest project of remodeling the bathroom (new project) and I had seen the mess, but I told DW after her complaint that I had seen ti but didn't think much of it, thinking that when my daughter got home from practice we will have her clean up her mess. Well, they got home well past her scheduled bed time so my daughter went right up. Anyway Dw complained of that, and I told her what I just explained to you. After about 30 seconds of silence, she went on about my son's mess, he had a snacl and left dishes out, and how she had to clean that up.
Her attempt to make me feel guilty worked. It's pretty easy, as you might guess, to do that to me. But I managed to calm down and telll her that she should know that every night before I goto bed, I clean up the kitchen. I do. Every night. And I hadn't gotten to it yet because I wasnt' going to bed yet. I could have, in retrospect, told her to cut the crap, to tell her plainly that seh was wrong, but I left it at the facts.
It's a silent victory. I knew she was just in a bad mood and had to let something out, and that's how she did it. I didn't act like a jerk right back. I am pretty sure that she knows I was right, she is a smart cookie. and I know i don't have to beat my point down into her.
But basically, this anecdote shows where I stand. Slow, almost immeasurable but continuous improvement. I'll be 85 when I arrive at my destination, but at least I am getting there.
