What's been going on

Hello my friends, sorry I haven't been too active for a while. It seems that by the time I get necessary chores done I haven't the energy to do some of the pleasurable activities. But I do send cards and telephone those members who have become close enough to exchange personal addresses and phone numbers. There is one member in particular who is very much in need of encouragement.

A big change occurred when my favorite grocery store, Martin's (called Giant in some locations) closed. They had a nice cafe where customers could sit and eat/drink. I liked to buy a big oatmeal raisin cookie for my breakfast. I will miss that, as well as the friendships I had made with employees there. Also, I knew where everything was! It's not the same at Kroger's, where I now shop. Krogers is too big and impersonal.  And I can't find stuff! I guess in time I will get used to it.

I have been spending time with an elderly friend, Dorothy, who is 91 and lives in my bldg. We watch TV together and eat and talk. I don't particularly like elderly people because they are so demanding and talk non-stop, telling me the same story 20 times! But I do this for the sake of my deceased mother and grandmother. I also hope that if I survive another 10 or 20 years, someone will be there for me!

Every day is an opportunity to create memories and karma. It is a chance to be a burden or a blessing.

Our bldg. had an "indoor cook-out" last Friday. The meat is grilled outdoors by the maintenance men, but we eat our meal indoors. We had to sign up in advance and get a ticket. We could reserve a hot dog, hamburger, or cheeseburger. Also served was baked beans, a drink, a bag of chips, and a cookie for dessert. I saved a couple hundred calories by giving away my chips and leaving some of my hamburger bun, beans, and cookie on my plate.

Can't believe how quickly Sept. flew by! I know that as soon as we hit Sept. the rest of the year goes like Wooosssh. It will be the holidays before we know it. I already decided NOT to go to Thanksgiving dinner with extended family. My brother-in-law has a niece who is a wonderful person and hosts the dinner. But her husband is a royal jackass, a bigot, a drunk, and a lecher. Have reached the point of not wanting to be around him. Last year he offended me by ranting about "a fat-assed homeless woman" in their neighborhood. Having been homeless and overweight, I really resent these hard-core Republicans who have no compassion. Of course he's a fan of Trump! The biggest turn-off and deal-breaker in a man is lack of compassion. If I see that, I'm out. I told my sister, you go if you want to, and just bring me a plate to eat at home.

Been visited by the brother of my next-door neighbor in the bldg. He's real handsome, in good shape, and he does help everybody. He's only 65. He is black, which is fine, but he converted to being a Muslim, which is not fine. He gave me a copy of the Qu'ran to read. With all the fuss and danger about Muslims, I wanted to have an "informed" opinion. I wanted to find out firsthand what these people believe. Well it is shocking and disturbing to read their holy book. I can't believe some of the stuff in there! They even tell their followers that Jesus was never crucified, that that's a hoax! They not only disbelieve that Jesus Christ is divine (I knew that), but to say he was never even crucified!? That's outrageous. I know there are also people who say the Holocaust never happened. That deeply offends Jews. And I was deeply offended about Christ never crucified.

I've probably offended Republicans and Muslims who may be reading this. If so, bear in mind we're all entitled to our religious and political beliefs. This guy is really hot. But I'm keeping it a casual and distant friendship. Will not go to bed with him or entertain any serious relationship.

Thanks, Chris! We aren't having the Fall foliage yet because we're still having days in the 80's! But within a couple of weeks I'm sure it will be a lot cooler!

The first thing I remember about this journal when I reflect is that we can choose to be a burden or a blessing to others; and that many Muslims who spread their teachings are as unhelpful as many Christians who spread theirs. James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

Look at the burdens this man has placed on you because of your curiosity and open heart. Also, the aggressive people of the world you mention see vulnerability and compassion as weaknesses to be exploited and ridiculed to try and bait their opposition into fear and anger to get them off balance as they have an attack waiting... that and walk through their minds with their muddy footprints as Ghandi the elder said. I can't stand them either. Bless you indeed!

Thats why I normally keep my mouth clamped about Christianity usually with nothing to say except to identify myself as a Christian. Most vehement Christians should be quiet and stop giving God a bad name imo, and no I do not mean you! LOL

I am only game to comment here because of the privacy and your encouragement, thank you indeed.

loved your journal. you are always interesting. your harvest party sounded fun and so does your indoor outdoor grill and your friendship with the 91 year old woman. age really is a number. its all about health. if you are of equal health more or less, that is the match, if one is much healthier or much sicker than the other, its more of a stretch. i never knew what they meant by age is a number until now, because i have illness - anemia - myself and keep falling asleep all the time. i'll eat something and bam, asleep. doesn't matter where i am. lol. glad you are okay. bigots aren't worth knowing. didn't know you were homeless. hope you write a story about it, that probably could be a screenplay and its something everyone wonders, how does that work out. where do you sleep? where do you eat? how do you get out of it? xxoo
