a green chart to go with the holiday, which i don't celebrate anyway.  was surprised to discover corned beef and cabbage is actually pricey.  $13.  i now have an appreciation for bars serving green beer and corned beef and cabbage.  very generous of them.    (what does "corned" mean?  is it a process or what?)  

had dinner at k's.  mixed drinks, brownies, blanched asparagus (yum), salad, egg noodles with sauce and chicken with parm cheese on it, white wine and coffee.  he says he asked c's girlfriend about the lawn mower and she says the wheel broke and its in a shop south of here.  and he's like really, for six weeks.  the whole thing is ridiculous.  k says he had just had it serviced for over a hundred dollars as well.  he served them with m's memorandum and gave them a full month to move on.  

would love to know why c is living in florida at all.  his kids live in ohio.  go back to ohio.  he claims he fears he'll get back into old ways there...hmmmm, he is in "old ways" now while living here or appears to be.  at least in ohio, he will see his youngest grow up.  makes no sense at all.  

i said to k, the only thing c had going for himself is that he was honest.  if he is stealing than there is nothing going for him.    i'm for the death penalty for all crime by force, fraud or forgery, so i don't have sympathy for any of this.    i have an article on prison systems in norway, which are extremely CIVILIZED to the point of being luxurious compared to our's.    nicer than a college dorm.  they feel our system is barbaric.  but their country has a ton of opportunity for the people to begin with, $17 per hour minimum wage, two years off for maternity/paternity leave and all paid by the government, free healthcare and free higher education with a $900 per month stipend while you are in school, so you have a nest egg of around $45,000 when you finish college.  what a huge difference.  maybe c should move to norway.  they accept foreigners as well for free college if you can study in their language.  some colleges in europe have classes in english as well, but only in the majors where they need people.  

more crap about the animals, but i wrote in in comments below the 3/16/2016 journal that has the meme, how not to be a dick, an every day etiquette guide.  

k's friend died.  don't know if i put this on here yet.  he was a teacher who fostered 47 kids in his life time and adopted five of them who had medical troubles.  that is amazing.  a life well-lived with a lot of purpose.  you have people like that and then you have people who are criminals (with or without jail time).  huge difference between the two.  

its raining outside, so doing nothing.  its supposed to rain all week.  its back down to the 70's during the day and 60's at night.  some people love that weather.  any kind of cold weather tires me out.    just started reading the newest american girl book (i'm a fan) this one's name is maryellen and she lives in north florida in the year 1954.  she has a bum leg from surviving polio, but can still play sports etc.  (polio was a disease many people got back then.  very scary.)  all the things that made american girl books unique - a family tree, a back section about history with old photographs and pretty art work throughout the book are now GONE with the "new and improved books".    you know, if its not broke, don't fix it.  american girl had a best selling formula for the passed 30 years.  WHY in the world change it?    the writing is good, but i miss the rest of it.   grrrr.
