What is this? After Surgery
Not sure what this feeling is but I am not liking it. I started to get these "surges" last night but only a couple times so blew it off as a sign that my body is adjusting to being without a thyroid. This morning, the "surges" continue but increase in frequency. UGH. It feels like heat running thru my entire body, then the tremors in my hands come back, I feel dizzy, and my heart rate shoots up into the 100's. WHAT IS THIS? I am waiting for my doc to call back. Maybe my body isn't ready for the synthroid just yet? Hoping, praying it is NOT a thyroid storm... one of the reasons of removing my thyroid was to prevent future ones. UGH. Anxiety on top of the feeling isn't helping either. Waiting on surgeon to see what to do, what to do, and what the possibilities are.

It will be okay. Just breathe slow, deep breaths. You\'re going to be okay.
Sounds like low calcium to me. Did they give you any to take? Everyone has to take calcium after this surgery. Maybe drink a glass or two of milk to see if that helps? It only takes about 20-30 min to fix itself. I\'ve been taking the Os- Cal chewables. Hugs to you.
Cheese, yogurt, dairy, chocolate, cottage cheese, mac-n-cheese, pudding, OJ - these are also filled with calcium. Eat/drink as much as you can. It will help, I promise. Mine went on for about 5 days, but it\'s pretty good now.
It sounds like your body still has a thyroid hormone, and it could be possible after the surgery that your thyroid \"dumped\" some hormone into your body when your thyroid was being manipulated through surgery. This is fairly common from what the new endo told me, hence; why she told me now to have the surgery while still hyper. I hope you get an answer soon. keep me posted sweetie.
I\'m sorry, that was not to have surgery while hyper..
I just noticed these posts... CK, I will keep it in mind if I get more surges to try calcium... perhaps a Tums at the surge to see if it lets up. So far, I\'ve been okay today. Thanks so much.
