What is the order of a wedding reception program?
The wedding reception is the party after the wedding ceremony. This is where the cake is cut, people get to dance and typically food and drinks are served. At the reception, the bride and groom will have an opportunity to greet and talk to all of their guests. Every reception is slightly different but the basic bones of all receptions are typically the same.Introduction and Receiving LineWhen the couple arrives at the wedding reception, they freshen up and change clothes. By then the receiving line will be set up and the couple will be introduced along with the wedding party and the bride and groom's parents. The Couple's First DanceThe newlyweds will have their first dance together as husband and wife. The make-up and hair of the bride has been recently freshened, and is perfect for pictures.Meal and Toasts or SpeechesTypically the best man will toast the couple before the meal begins. If there will be several courses to the meal and several speeches, then it works nicely to have a speech in between courses. This breaks up the speeches and gives the wedding guest something to look forward to in between courses. Having conversation starter cards at the tables might be a good idea if the people at the tables do not know each other very well.DancingAfter dinner, many people will want to dance. There are several dances that are traditionally done during the reception. Typically the parents dance first, then the money dance where everyone pays a little money to dance with the bride or the groom. Afterward, the dance floor is free for everyone and anyone to dance.Cutting the Cake and Tossing the BouquetAfter about an hour or two dancing, it will be time to cut the cake and for the bridal couple to feed each other the wedding cake. This is a major photo op for the couple. After everyone gets some cake, the MC (master of ceremonies) can ask all the single ladies to come to the dance floor to catch the wedding bouquet and then all the single men to catch the garter. Some couples no longer toss the bouquet or garter.More Dancing and Leaving for the HoneymoonAfter the meal is finished and the cake has been cut, the guests will have another opportunity to dance. Then the couple will have a final dance, followed by the couple thanking their guests and saying some goodbyes. Finally the bride and groom leaves for the Honeymoon, either slipping out after the reception or making a grand exit an hour or so before the reception is scheduled to end.Source:FrugalBride: Step-by-Step ReceptionPlanning a Wedding Reception: Types of Wedding DancesPlanning the Perfect Day: Wedding Reception TimelineMore Information:Planning the Wedding Reception: Wedding Reception Order of Events href='http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/2013126' - http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/2013126 -
