What is a Friend
If you could write a description
Of what a friend should be
I wonder who would fit the bill
Would that friend really be me.
What determines a friendship
What causes that special bond
It is love or just an interest
Or a feeling that reaches beyond
I'm sure we all have different opinions
Of what a friend should be
An opinion is kind of like noses
Everyone has one, you see
To me a friend will stand the test
When times are rough and sad
A friend will lift your burdens
When you're feeling really bad
It may just be a listening ear
Or just a few words spoke in love
A friend will always be truthful
But as harmless as a dove
Oh it's true they may get persistant
And they'll tell you face to face
But, they will have your best interest in mind
And treat you with kindness and grace
A true friend's love is priceless
They've proved themselves, again and again
So take a look at your avatar's
And really see, who is your friend.
A wall of avi's is impressive
If you're a collector or such
But, through the years I've been here
That doesn't really impress me that much
Kindness. love, and deep concern
Are the backbone that makes a friend
Without these pillars to stand on
Many friendships come to an end.
So, I keep trying to be that friend
Some I guess wonder if I'm that real
And when they doubt and reject my love
I have to retreat and heal
Rejection has been my "Trigger"
I have dealt with it for so many years
But, I do my best to show my love
I've been on DS, for four years.
Many "friends", have came and gone
They've left or deleted me
So, I just reach out to someone else
That's who I am, I'm just me.
A man who is in his senior years
Who's life and love matters to few
But, I am just a simple man
This is me and that's what I do.

PeeWee, I think you are a wonderful friend. All any of us can do is reach out and be the person you are describing. I hope that I am a friend to others, but some have turned away too, but I will just keep reaching out anew.

How beautifully written. I\'ve never had a friend. I\'m that friend that people want for a season and a reason and then they move on.

I know that I have let you down and disappointed you at times , but I hope you truly know how much you mean to me and I sometimes do and say stupid things ........ I think we all do. we are human.
