what is it?
As a 50-year-old woman, I know what sex is. But I really have no idea what love is. I love my family out of obligation. They have taken care of me so therefore I love them. But isn't love more than that? I don't think I am very capable of loving anyone. Now that's not all my fault. There was some abuse but I fault no one for that. It's just that before I die I want to know what love really is. I mean this journal entry in all seriousness. If you know what love is. Please give me some hints.

Not to sound cliche, but if you watch any depiction of the crucifixion, that will show the depth of emotion God had to feel for a lost world in order to put His only Son through such a henious death!
In a lighter vein, love is what you see in a happy dogs eyes when he looks at his master!!

There was some abuse in the family and my mom never loved herself and she just projected that onto us kids.
I don\'t even think I love myself.
They say you have to love yourself first before you can love someone else.
Thats a hard thing to do.

I totally agree with \"singles\". I really don\'t love myself either, so I do the best I can, with my bf anyway, to love him and be IN LOVE with him. Those are two totally different things. You can love someone like you love your parents, but to be in love with someone, is hard when you hate yourself. I\'m working on it in therapy, but I can\'t seem to raise my self-esteem. Then you have the love you feel for your kids. I honestly don\'t believe that someone\'s life can be complete unless they have kids. They are God\'s gifts to parents. He gives a special child to special people. Like God specifically gave me a child with special needs, handicapped, disabled, whatever you wanna call it. But I like to refer to him as having special needs. The point is, God gave this child specifically to me, to test my faith an abilities. You will find love. If you can\'t have children, try and get to know a sibling\'s child. You will feel uplifted and feel the best you have in your life. You will find love honey, true love that\'s special and wonderful, just pray to the Lord and leave it in His hands. He will take care of you :)
