What I Can Do

Lately, I have been learning to view myself and this disease differently.  I am training a new teaching partner  (I teach Elementary PE) and as I shared with her the reason for going into teaching, I realized I wasn't living what I preached.   I have been so trapped in anger, sadness,  and frustration.  I was focusing on all the things this disease had taken from me.,  All the things I could not do anymore.  I had not been recognizing what I still can do.  So I picked myself up and made myself sit on the stationary bike at the gym and I do one repetition of light weights.  I am going to try to do Yoga or Pilates here and there.  A place near me has Restorative yoga.  I am learning to do less.  Have realistic expectations for my day.  And take care to nurture myself. This disease left me feeling like a completely different person.  I felt crazy.  Everything has been black or white.  And although it isn't completely comfortable, I am learning to live in the gray.  To honor each day and ask for what I need.  And I feel fortunate that my faith is a rock.  I can do all things through Him.

This disease can take you down. You have to accept and adjust with each thing it takes. Faith has played a big part in why I am still here. I am so happy to know you are getting thru the anger, sadness, and frustration. Hang in there...Love, Nancy
