What helps my fibro

I've written this so many times for those with a new diagnosis, I decided to enter it into journal form, so I don't forget anything!!!
What helps my fibro:
Daily Strength...it is amazing!!!   You'll find lots of good info here.....I've learned tons from this site since my diagnosis.... most people, over time, do learn what helps/hurts their fibro.....everyone is a bit different, and what helps me may not help you..... What helps me are the following: 1. Good sleep - critical! I take either FLexeril or Benadryl and try to get at least 8 hrs a night (or with naps) 2. Good diet - for me, NO sugar or caffeine, few carbs.....makes my fatigue horrific 3. Vitamins/supplements - D-ribose for energy, and many others (see my journal Nov 27, 2009) 4. Meds - I use Celexa for mood and pain....Flexeril on occasion 5. Exercise - swimming in a heated pool is GREAT to help ease my muscle pain and aches......I also like Pilates, gentle stretching.....I'm always in more pain without the exercise, but I can't do too much too quick. 6. Pacing - I'm careful to schedule down time, down days....plan my activities to not tax my system too much. 7. Stress - try to avoid as much unnecessary stress as possible. 8. Easing muscle pain - also use TENS unit, Homedics massager Doing all this, I can usually keep the symptoms under control, and do pretty well most days.....I don't take any other meds, cuz they just haven't helped me.....By doing all this, I've learned to live with the fibro, and still have a good, full life.....It just takes time to find what works for you.... You might want to keep a daily journal on what you eat, exercise, sleep, pain levels, etc.....look for patterns....Over time, you'll begin to see that doing x helps, and doing Y makes you feel worse....at least, that's what I've found over the last 20 yrs of having fibro. Hope this helps, and HUGS from down south :)

I agree, you have it pretty well stated. I take D3, 2000 mg. every night. It takes a while to build up in your system but it helps. Sleep is so very important too. Having a routine to relax you before falling asleep is good for me. Warm shower or bath, gentle relaxing music and sometimes a good book will help shut down my mind from thinking of everything I have to do or did for the day.

Thanks for posting this! Can you please tell me some of the exercises you do in the water that seem to help? My Dr. Rx\'d me pool therapy, but i cannot get out of work to go for a few weeks, so i thought i would turn up the pool heater and try some at home until i can go :)
