What Happened!
The leaves have started to fall and we've had a couple of cool spells here in central Texas. Autumn is here. Ah, autumn! The transition from hot to cool. A time to slow down a little and get the house ready for winter. Nice thoughts. Well, I went to a sporting goods store to buy a new pair of shoes Saturday. A heavier pair for winter. Walked into the store and was greeted by,,,,by,,,,Christmas music! Christmas music!!!! Last time I looked, Thanksgiving is coming up. Thanksgiving,,,remember? A time for families to get together. The busiest time for airports. A time for good food and fellowship. A time for colored leaves and colored guords and turkey and dressing and cranberry sauce and candied yams and pumpkin pie and watching the Macy's parade on TV? What happened to Thanksgiving? What happened to the easy time without the worry of gifts? What happened to the time of family talk? What happened to the sleepy afternoon? Are we so eager for the Christmas rush that we skip a very family oriented holiday? One of peace and contentment. Maybe we need some songs. Maybe one about a turkey. Naw, the turkey give it's life for the holiday. Got any guord songs?
