What do you need?

How many clothes do you need?  How much junk can you save and how many collectiables are junk?  My excuse is that I am sentimentally attached to certain objects that are in my house.  What is the difference between an ecclectic style and and junk pile?
I'm afraid it may be that I'm just lazy.  Friends here know I was recently reminded of my own mortality.  I would hate to leave this mess to my kids.  I have a light week I setting a goal to clean one room every free day.
See, I qualified even that goal, UGH!!!I don't wanna.

Just heard a sermon about this. Mostly that we really don\'t own anything, we are just using it while we are here. Simple and true. Believe me, I know ALL about this, my mom had sooooooooo much \'stuff\', nothing of any real value. She grew up dirt poor, so I guess that explains it. LOL...now her stuff has become my stuff...good luck on that goal. Have yard sale . My gram started giving all her stuff away to her kids and us years ago, said she didn\'t want us fighting over it later...=)

Well, I think that somewhere in my genes, dormant, lie sneaky hoarding chromosomes. My mom saved everything too, due to being raised during the depression, and poor. So I have noticed that I too, save way too much!

Just recently, my Sis organized her closet, and it\'s like a store, every single item hung by color, and folded in neat perfect piles, by color and type. She even uses a cardboard, to insert while folding, so everything is folded the same exact width. But it looks great, and is super functional.

I, on the other hand, have so much stuff, I can\'t fit it in 3 closets, and 3 armoires!!!! Give ya a clue. I got tired of so many things not fitting (too small), as I gained weight, that I have been very good about giving say, capris away to my thinner friends. NOt kidding, probably gave away over 80 pair to several different friends. So, I\'m starting to realize, less is more. If it doesn\'t fit, my sis taught me, put it away elsewhere, in the basement, in a box, or garage sell it, or give it away to a friend or donations. So I have been doing the donations for the last 3 years, and thinning things down. Here\'s a secret she taught me, which may benefit you, cuz I too, have way too much sentimentality for objects, and it\'s not good! She said, try it on, doesn\'t fit, don\'t like the color on you, out of style, don\'t feel good in it???? Put it aside, but take it out of the closet! Don\'t have to think, I\'m getting rid of it now, just think, I\'m sorting it out temporarily, until...... Then in your closet, only have things hanging that fit, look nice, make you feel good, and now it\'s functional, not crowded, and you quit wasting time, trying on crap that doesn\'t work. I have only gotten thru the blazers section, and pulled 16 out, good start! Now I wanna hit the pants/jeans section, then I\'ll go back to the capri. Most of the 8\'s and 10\'s I\'ve given away, the last 3 years. I was hopin to fit the 12\'s, but who knows if/when that\'s gonna happen. So, back to the drawing board, trying on each item, and sort, sort, sort, as you march march march those items in a backup closet, for another day. There are a few days amonth, by the way, that I am in a very \"need to get rid of stuff\" mood. YOu may have that! Gotta capitolize on those few days. But, I\'ll see if i can keep ya posted, on my progress. It seems that I\'m not in the mood, to do it very quickly. But if I just keep on, sorting, and trying on......big if! I know i\'d have more stuff that I actually like, and don\'t wear, cuz it\'s lost amidst all the other stuff, I don\'t wear!

When I think of how much time this takes, I think perhaps my stuff owns me.
