What can you do???

I hate my job, but at 56, it is tough to get another opportunity. Sunday's I cannot enjoy as I am too busy dreading Mondays! Anyone else feel like this?

Also. due to my age, I see countless friends dying, I know my turn is coming and after years of being suicidal the reality of it all hits now! Again, anyone felt like this?

I welcome all advice, stories, suggestions, anything...thank you so much for taking the time to read..and respond.

I hear you.....I hate working too much but limiting my work I seem to enjoy it...getting old people die is truth....and I am prepared to go....I too had attempts to kill myself but gave that up for real.....I just wait for that day when I meet fate and die

For several years I had a terrible job and didn’t enjoy any part of the weekend. On Saturday mornings I stayed in bed late because I was too depressed.

I can’t relate to friends dying because I have very few friends and am not that age yet.

I would say apply for new jobs if you have the energy. Eventually something that is a better fit will come along.

at 69, i'm grateful i found something to do with the past 13 years other than just waiting round to die. gratitude/appreciation lists are my primary defense against that dismal scenario. reaching past all the things i wish were different to appreciate and be grateful for the beauty around me improves my outlook across the board. i don't see the world as it is. i see the world as i am. when i can alter the doomy gloom in my head, the world begins to look like an entirely different place.

i'll second the notion of applying for new jobs and/or opportunities. i am self-employed but still always on the lookout for new growth. so far my search has shown me i already have the best job available, and that's enough. it helps me shift the focus from self-pity to making my current job even better. great jobs are made, not found.

but that is me and every case is unique. . .

steadying support while you sort your own case.

My hubby and I are 59 and 62 looking for work almost seems imposable. Hubby has been on so many interviews and loses the job to someone younger. I did notice so many on my FB friends list has past, some even very young. I also have on my friends list people my age and older that are living full lives and sharing pictures of their vacations, gardens and even art crafts they have done. I told my hubby we can either sink or swim and sinking is not an option. Hating your job is not a good thing. I can see how it ruins your Sundays, Maybe looking for something else while still working would not hurt.

I remember feeling that way on Sundays back when I was younger. I had several different jobs in my life. I was in the medical field for 20 years and didn't like it much. I then did office work for a few years. Went on disability because I mentally just couldn't work anymore. While on disability I started working part time at Target as a cashier.. I grew to love that job. The bosses were great and I liked working with the customers. I retired this years after working 11 years there. So, you never know what kind of job you might find that you will like. I was making over $17.00 an hour when I left.
I pray for the best for you.
