What a weekend!
Had no time to check in - my e-mail account said I've got 200 to check up on, lol.
Last Friday, I got a call - an on-line friend I've never personally met but have been talking to (and facebooking) with for the past 3 years said she recently moved to the state and wanted to meet. Feeling like I've known her forever, I invited her to stay in my guest room....
AWESOME!!! She stayed 2 days.... we bicycle shopped and she bought a nice cruiser (just her style) and we rode our local trail (all down hill). She even took a nasty fall - I would have been bedridden the next day, but she was amazing and kept going! We had burgers at the best burger joint in the hills afterward, plopped on my furniture that evening from exhaustion. The next morning, I was worried she wouldn't be able to move but she was ready to go again!
And not just ready... but we hiked the Crazy Horse Volksmarch! 6 tough miles up to the face of the monument. She'd never hiked before (and she's 60 years old), wasn't used to the altitude, but whenever I offered to go with her on an easy route, she'd say nope and keep on trying! It took a while, and toward the end she had to slow way down... there were times she'd take 5 steps and have to stop, but quit? NO WAY! And worse was when we reached the last open stretch during the hottest part of the day. But she made it! We both got a touch of sunburn, drank LOTS of water, and were way too tired to even go out for dinner afterward, lol. It was AWESOME!
And my MIA neighbor showed up last night, tried being my best buddy so he could find out who was at my house (and we ignored him, lol), and when she left today, I felt like my best friend was leaving.... but not for long, she's stopping back through on her way to an RV convention at the end of the month!
What I learned this weekend.... that ADVENTURES work for everyone in the process of healing and moving on - she lost her husband a year ago and had decided this week it was time to start living again.... being single has it's perks because when girlfriends come visiting, we can completely ignore our diets (hello deep dish pizza, lol!)... that dwelling about a certain butthole neighbor was just a waste of my time... and I learned to value ALL relationships, especially friendships.
Well, I'd better get checking on those e-mails, lol.... LATER!

HEY! Watch it! us \"60 year old\'s\" don\'t appreciate those comments about \"taking the easy route\"\"Never say die\" is my motto! LOL! So glad you had a great adventure, wish I could come up your way, maybe next year? Who knows I just might win the Lotto!(course I guess you have to buy a ticket to win! HA,HA!) But you keep on enjoying yourself there are going to be more and more adventures for YOU!

Oops, lol... sorry, didn\'t mean to slight 60 year olds! She just had me in total AWE this weekend... she did more in 2 days than I did in my first 2 years here. TOTALLY COOL! :)
Your friend sounds a lot like me. I love a challenge and I seldom give up. I don\'t always do things the easy way. Easy is not fun.
