what a fucking day

its been very difficult the past couple of days i have gone from manic to suicidal and now today i have just been wallowing in a pool of self hatred and deep depression also im getting pressure from my girlfriend about my religious belief or i should say lack there of boy i will tell ya its really hard to make this work i don't know im not sure what to do i love the girl with all my heart but this is really starting to bother me i am determined to make it work though im going to have to become selectively deaf i guess when she brings it up see this all started when i told her something that happened in church when i was a kid before i became an atheist and now she is convinced she can convert me back to religion because she thinks i had a bad experience as a kid and im simply holding a grudge against religion witch is not the case at all this is what was said  "You had such a bad experience as a child with religion its messing with what's going on now
12:41 AM me: no it has nothing to do with my child hood i got over that a long time ago
12:42 AM her: I think it does... its affecting how you're seeing the bible and religion
12:43 AM me: no what religion has done over the centuries is affecting how i look at it
12:46 AM her: Things do that. People do it. Everything does that. There are dark times in religion but there is also not dark times. You have to look at it as a whole
  not pick at it"

Since you are Agnostic or Atheist, I am wondering why you think this girl is for you? She clearly does not understand your aversion to organized religion, and she never will. Why is this girl so important to you, in spite of the fact that she is convinced you are just \"choosing\" to be anti-religous. I am almost 40 yrs old, and I will tell you that relationships between a believer and a non-believer seldom work. Especially if the believer holds the disbelief against you as a choice and intentional thought. She will never understand how you feel on the topic, and you will have to bend over backwards to make this woman happy, all the while listening to her \"I told you so\"s. I\'m afraid you are not going to win in this relationship. I know its hard to break-up with someone and be alone, but trust me, if you look in the right places and with the right code words, you could very easily find a woman that holds the same beliefs as you, and more importantly, won\'t hold them against you.

Its you call, obviously, but I think you should think hard and careful about this woman and what kind of future you want.

Granted, as people with mental illness, finding a good mate is even more difficult. But from my outside perspective, finding a new partner is the only way to make your life happier and less defensive. Aren\'t there enough things we have to be defensive about without having to add religious discord to the mix? Please consider this carefully.

MUCH LUCK, LOVE AND HAPPINESS TO YOU, JESSE!!!!

yeah. i wish you luck. most religious people i have met however, will not quit if you cant get on their level and admit to their religion.. which is crap.. is she not ok with you saying something that generally pleases the masses.. like i always say.. when people look at me like i murdered jesus myself.. that i believe in something out there.. but its not something that makes us abide by rules and regulations.. its not of our world.. like we imagine.. and then they chill. ha if i have to i lay out scientific facts.. but i try and be cool with people believing what they want to you know?
