went to church store and saw adr, ron, ana etc.//pouring rain outside today - dark by 6:30 p.m.!
i always write AFTER things happen because if i make "plans" the plans will happen at some point within a few months time, but definitely not on a specific day. good thing. lol. today, was totally like that....
went over to church store today to say hi to everyone and shop a little. i walk in and its mania. 3 of them say to me, we were JUST TALKING ABOUT YOU, really, just this second.
turns out, adr was there. she always wears bright colors or hippi patterns and is like a ray of sunshine, all smiles. she used to teach kindergarten at catholic schools and has four grown kids from two different marriages, i never keep straight who is from who and she is a widow now for the passed few years. the antibacterial spray she ordered from revivalanimal.com works wonders and all the balding troubles on her cat went away. no vet needed. she also started feeding two strays and has met another one (orange outdoor) on walks, so she is starting a small colony (i have been urging her to do this for a few years. lol.)
ron returned from illinois, adr says to me, that was MONTHS ago you know. so i guess i'm gone months and didn't even know it. lol. he was driving to chicago and some town way north in illinois by the lakes, with a friend (he has to drive) to visit a priest friend of his who has a 32 foot chris craft boat up there. ron knows a lot of priests because ron went to priest school and then decided not to be a priest, he got married instead. but he is still friends with a lot of priests from when they were in school together. the man was in the hospital for most of the passed two years and had his boat in storage. the boat is from 1972 and he's had it since its new. he doesn't want to give it up, so he keeps paying dry storage on it at a marina.
turns out someone broke in and the boat had six inches of murkey water in it for the passed two year from the break in and snow and rain getting inside. he also can't salvage the two original motors because they haven't been on for two years so no one will buy them. he still doesn't want to give up the boat. before the priest got sick, they would take the boat out on the lake, and sleep in it. it has a galley and bunk beds downstairs and a v with a bed on deck etc. he says his friend can't climb or bend anymore so having the boat makes no sense at all. very sad. so this trip was awful. i suggested he give it to a votech school in illinois that teaches automotive technology, as they take old cars and re-do them as a learning tool, they might want a boat. teenage boys would enjoy that kind of thing, if they get to take it on the water when its back to normal.
ana was there and i didn't get to talk to her at all because a woman ended up in tears from teresa - who volunteers at the church store. this happens a LOT. today it became a verbal fight and the woman TOLD teresa how rude she is and started crying. wow. people don't do that anymore. in the 70's and 80's you saw this all the time, but since the internet (and according to the book "brave new world" we are all drugged or medicated and "induced-calm" -- you don't see drama in person very often. lol. adr's son was there and kept pacing trying to figure what was going on (bet he can count the number of times he sees actual fights on one hand, he's around 28 i think). i said to him, its just teresa and he laughed and says oh. teresa calls over adr to take the register and leaves the store. the rest of us went to the back of the store to shop out of sight of the drama. what teresa does is change the price of things and says its marked wrong. it probably is. and then she'll say, this is a church you know. your money is a donation. OR she'll say she has to add it up her way, but she says it angrily and doesn't want the patron watching as she adds. people and their quirks. you get used to it, but it used to happen every week and sometimes there are blow ups. it would be better, if she helped stock but not work the register, but you can't SAY that to a volunteer. lol. what a mess.
they had a lot of deals, including meakin (english) china with wavy edges, which was soooo tempting, but i have animals and they break or ruin EVERYTHING, so until we get land and a barn, guess not. really nice though and very small set in forest green and white. haven't had that many adults "thrilled" to see me all at one time, since events. i paid by check, which many places don't take checks anymore? credit cards only, church is the opposite and really they prefer cash. i offered my i.d. and they were horrified - not needed. adr says to me, we know where you live. lol. (i live across the main road from there.)
j and i were supposed to go to a chicken parm dinner. teresa said it was in honor of chris columbus and seemed annoyed i didn't know this. she must be italian. good thing i didn't mention to her that it was actually leif erikson who discovered north america around the year 1000. they have known this since 1965 when they found maps from his settlements in newfoundland, canada (by quebec) from 1000 to 1440 a.d. (way before chris columbus. so why don't we have leif erikson day instead? lol. i expected a festival at that church and instead it was over after one hour. we didn't get to it. would have liked to.
