Went back and read my first journal entry...
this morning entitled "third times a charm, I hope". That was over a year ago. It was written on the heals of an all-nighter feeling mildly hungover and very ashamed. In the days and weeks that followed I grew more and more confident and it's gratifying to see the enthusiasm build for my newfound freedom.
It's easy to forget how fortunate I am to have found my way out of that abyss. I think that's why AA or Refuge Recovery meetings are so important, a regular reminder of where we've been, who we are, AND to pass on the good news to those still struggling to break the chains of addiction. Haven't been to a meeting in a couple weeks, so headed to one at noon today. I need the reminder...

I remember reading your first post too and many of your subsequent posts and journals. What struck me in the beginning was your guilt AND the struggle you had in dealing with the distance that this disease had put between you and those you love . ..... I’ve also read about the progress you have made toward mending that distance. I’ve followed your journey Kev and you should be extremely proud of how far you have come and how you have grown through your recovery. Well done you Kev - keep doing what your doing and keep posting your fabulous journals and advice. You really are an inspiration to everyone on DS x
Thanks JF!
