Well It's Official
This was my last official PT session. It's been determined there is nothing they can do for me. I've had to back off on exercises gradually over the last two weeks. I do enjoy the heat and massage; will miss those as I can't do the massage myself. I'm not to do the exercises for lumbar area at all and return on Tuesday to tell them if I feel better not doing them. I'm to continue the cervical exercises for post-surgery recovery. At times I feel I haven't done enough to aid in my recovery but I have also learned that when a new pain crops up to pay attention to it and watch how my body reacts.
I'm a little frustrated, was teary eyes today as I went in. I know my body well enough by now and with DDD comes the point where nothing further will work and I must live in the condition and allow the degeneration to progress unabated. I have a friend who is in only pain management as she can not be operated on or find any source of relief.
This post isn't to scare anyone, just accepting the facts as they are. Each patient is different. I can be operated on as a level "blows". For others, there is too much extensive damage and no way to "fix" it.
I know there is no fix...just deal with each vertebrae, each disc as it slips and breaks. Prognosis is not something I try to dwell on. With each disappointment, with each failed treatment protocol, I can't help but become a little depressed from time to time. I swipe the tears from my face, tell people I'm fine and keep on going, one day at a time. I know I am not alone; the Lord is with me and He has higher purposes and knowledge of a future for me. I won't allow myself to be down for long when I count my many blessings.

We will keep fighting with our inner strength and prayers. We can\'t give up.

Sweetie, I hear ya! 35 yrs.& 6 surgeries into this wonderful disease, I now have fibro myalgia, as well & they play off each other. I can\'t remember what it feels like to not live in pain. But, like you, it may have control over my body, I will never let it rob me of my spirit. Learning to be response-able for what I am capable of on a daily basis, letting go of what I\'m not able to do, and staying grateful makes my life bearable. I\'m proud of you for joining me in the Resigned Victims Club!
