Well being connected today
Well, the well is dug, and today they are attempting to connect it to the water pump and into the house. I hope that it all goes well, because I really, really want running water. Yesterday, I ran a water test and found a cut off valve that was leaking, so I called the plumbers, and they sent someone over - it only took him about 15 minutes to find and fix the problem, but before he left he shut off the valve that had the hose giving me running water. This was the only water that I had coming to the house. In the morning, my brother told me that it wasn't working, so I turned the valve back on, and hit the switch, and no water would come out. I was a bit worried that we wouldn't have enough for drinking water for today, because they water has to be completely disabled while they are connecting the new well, so I went out and grabbed the bucket, which has been collecting rainwater all day, and brought it inside so that the ice block could melt. At least we'll have something to flush the toilet with while they are working. Well, they started around 8:00 and it is 17oF today, which is quite chilly. They already have the trench dug, and are feeding the new piping through right now. As I had uncovered the old well yesterday for them, they wil be able to get the old pump and install it in the new well, hopefully, and I'll be up and running today. I so sincerely hope so!
