Well????

Hello all!

It's been a long time! Tooooo long!

I hope everyone is doing well?

Anyone experience this:

Me-I am almost 56 years of age-I have lost so many friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, etc....I see my days disappearing at a rapid pace! It does not bother me to know that I too am going to die (if you have read any of my posts-I kinda welcome it) but lately, I am preoccupied with it!! I don't see no point in making plans or sitting goals--as time is elpasing so quickly! To further compund things-out of the blue, a coworker whule we were on break said, "When we retire death is so close that nothing matters." SO I know I am not alone in these feelings...btw--I made no comment back to coworker as I did not want to trigger them too!

Any advice? Can you relate?

welcome back.

i think i experienced this more at 56 than i do now at 68. at 56, i never known an elder who made life after 60 look worth living and had lived fast and hard in hopes of avoiding the experience. around my middle 50's i began to realize that tactic was not working and? ? ? what do you do when god calls your bluff?

by the time i actually turned 60, it didn't look as bad as i was expecting and that shift in time perspective lessened my hurry worry considerable. i'm still not afraid to die, but the alternative doesn't look as attractive as it did when i was young and impatient.

I am in my 40s but I can relate. Depression makes me not want to live. Even when I am not particularly depressed, I think about life and don’t want to live very long because there is no one who cares enough about me to help at the end of my life. If I make it to 80 I will try to make arrangements for end of life care.

I guess I am unique in that I don't concern myself with death. Its going to come when it comes, there is little to nothing one can do to stop it currently, so rather than concern myself with when it ends, I may as well just have fun till it does. I don't need others to aid me in allowing me to enjoy myself on any given day, and yeah some days flat out turn out like crap (Whether it be socital or mental/emotional) but that's okay. The point of having plans or having goals isn't that you ACTUALLY complete them, it is so you have a reason to move forward. The "when you retire you die" tells me that the person has chosen to have no real direction in life, so when they retire they are just going to sit down and wait. Sure when i retire i am looking forward to being able to laze my day away if i choose, but i am also looking forward to saying "know what, i want to go to the beach today" grabbing my dogs and being able to go just because i want to. Or maybe going and assembling a model, or making something out of wood, or playing a video game. Before anyone assumes anything yes i suffer from severe clinical depression, my "good days" are a normal persons, okay or light bad days. I just have learned that perspective plays a huge part in it. Someone elses bad day may be my great day, but that could be because that person lives a well kept life and they just stubbed a toe and it ruined their world. I think if i focused on the fact i was going to die, yeah life would be probably way harder, instead, naw I think i would rather say hell with death i am going to have some fun with life first.

I try to surround myself with positive energy as often as possible. It's amazing how achieving a goal or getting some great input from another human being can change the momentum of the day. I also enjoy hobbies, a writing group, art, exercise. Focusing on the good instead of the negativity in this life. Planning to turn my MS around and get strength back from a spine surgery of a few years ago. Hope you find some inspiration, motivation and joy. I am 59, planning to live to be 160, getting healthier every day.

Thanks to all who responded!! BTW---I think-a LOT-about everyone I knew growing up: parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, classmates, etc...who are gone----

Jimmy, why are you still concentrating on the negative. !Please, please, please quit it!

No one deserves negative in their life. Haven't you understood yet that allowing negative in once allows negative always.

By the way, you are not alone in what's going on in your life. About 6 years ago, I had a huge health scare. My doctor called my family together to tell me goodbye. Or at least that was what he was sure of.
But, God had other plans. I had a short few days of dialysis treatments and God allowed me to wake up. When i did, even my brother and sister where present. My children where quite upset. Ever since then, we have talked about what I want and how to dispose of my body.
I have decided to have my body donated to science. Mainly because I have had some wonderful reactions to my health problems. And God keeps allowing me to live. I think he has more for me to do.
I have put on file with my hospital and doctors a DNR and other paperwork so my children wont have to make many decisions.

Now, back to you.
If you dwell on the negative, you are inviting in the negative.
I literraly thank God everymorning when i get awake enough to do so. You see, it is making a choice. Either to celebrate the positive or live in the negative. And God, Abba, Father is a good, good father.

You see, the more you get to know him, the more he shows you he is a good, good father.

But, then, this is a choice you make for yourself. Can't nobody decide for you. Not even God. This is why he gave you freedom of choice. It's you're decision. Positivity or negativity...you're decision.

BTW, I had another family member (my age) pass this last week.
So, yes, this is at the top of thoughts.
Especially because my medical problems are making it very important that I stay sitted with my feet up.
Wow!!!!!
