Weekend fun, work, backache and heartache.

The weekend went by very fast. My brother Clayton and his long time girlfriend Val, have broken up and she spent the weekend at our house. I am very close to Val and she is like a sister. Clayton wont slow down on his drinking so she finally had enough and kicked him out.  Friday Night we set up and just talked most the night and played with the kittens. Al had gone to bed and we made it to bed about 2am. We got up at 730 and had coffee and let Al sleep in and we cleaned the house and played with the kitties. We let them out of the box and run around the living room. They are getting so fast and playful and checked out everything they could in the living room while Trouble (mom) set back nervously and watched. They are so precious. Coco the poodle followed them around intently wondering what in the world they were while Trouble watched waiting to pounce on Coco if she made any wrong move.. Pretty funny. We were going do yard work and clean the icky fish pond but it was only 50degrees outside and the wind was blowing and way to cold for yard work and definetly not the day to climb in cold filthy fish pooed pond for cleaning. We opted to go shopping and get Val a pedicure as she had never had one. I took her to a shop where I have my nails and ped done. It is owned by a cute vietnamese family and Andy did her pedicure. He is such a doll and was kidding with Val and made her feel less self concious. She absolutely loved her feet and the massage. I was so glad I could do that for her. Next we ran to a store and bought sun flower seeds to plant. They grow humongus and the birds love to eat the seeds and they look awesome growing up next to the fence. Then we were off to a boutique and bought lots of fun items there including a bunch of candles and burners to make the houses smell wonderful. Had a great time. Then we got home and made dinner and watched Planet of the Apes on Blue Ray and made it an early night. Sunday, we woke up and played with the kitties ( I think Ive got Val looking into taking one home when it is big enough even though she didnt want one.. the kitty wouldnt leave her side... I trained it to do that.. heee hee). We went outside to drink our coffee and it was beautiful out so we knew we were going to have to tackle the pond. Al came out and we got started. I have to tell you this is a dirty filthy job and Al and I were both kinda at each others throats as I know he would have much rather been out on the Harley. (like I wanted to be in the pond). First we had to pull out the lily pots and cement bricks from the scumy cold water. I was the one that had to climb into the cold slime and wrap nooses around the plants so Al could pull them from dry land. They get root bound and intangle each other and are hard to get out. Then we had to drain the pond and as we went along scoop the gold fish out with a net and put them in a  trough (troth sp dont know, lol) full of fresh water to keep em alive. Theres probably about 250 fish.. Way to many.. Then Al put on his waiders and climbed in and we took the last big of water out bucket by bucket as it was to slimy and still had some fish in it and the drainer clogged up. Talk about break your back work.. I am sure feeling it today and so is Al. Oh well had to be done. I think we only lost two or three gold fish. Val decided to go home so we filled the pond back up, dumped in the gold fish and Al and I headed out to feed to cows. Its about 5 pm by now and the cows were hungry and headed towards the gates. Im the one that gets Al backed on to the trailer and opens the gates and then drives the truck while Al pitchforks out the hay to the cows. When we were almost done I saw a little calf at the bottom of the field that wasnt moving. I drove down and got out of the truck and the small black calf didnt get up. He was very sick and Al said he had the skowers (scouers, I dont know but he had the shits) and couldnt even get up. Its mom had just left it there to go eat and he looked like he was ready to die. Al picked him up (with his bad back) and threw him gently into the back of the truck where I was. When he started up the diesel the calf got scared stood up and jumped out over the side of the truck and to the ground. I cried my eyes out. The calf just laid there as if he were going to die and I didnt know if his legs were broken or not. I could not quit crying so obviously I could never make a very good farmer or cowgirl and it kinda made Al pissed. We left it there to go and try and find a shot needle and medicine and were not able to find them. We were going to leave and go to his sons house to see if we could find it when I noticed out in the field where the baby was, the crows had already circled and landed (about five of them) and were aproaching the calf. They will peck their eyes out and kill them if they are sick. I ran down the shit strewn field and scared them off and we loaded up the baby one more time in the truck. This time he did not get up and I told Al I would not leave him to the crows. I set in the back of the truck for atleast an hour while Al tried to figure out what to do and was feeling the troth, troff what ever it is with water for the cows. I could not stop crying and I know you will probably not believe this but the calf was crying too. I saw the tears on the floor of the truck and thought it was just the calf with a runny nose. I felt his eyes and he was also crying.. That made me sob even harder and I prayed and prayed to God not to let this young baby die.Al tried the cell phone again of Weston his son, he was flying in from Toronto Canada and was lucky enough to get him and find out that the meds were in the truck we were driving in. Al got the needle and gave the baby two shots. I set with the calf and Al went inside Keiths (our friend that we keep the cows at) and made him a bottle and we force fed him 3/4 of the bottle. We then got some straw and it was getting dark and the crows had left so we took the calf back to the other cows. We made him a bed of hay to lay him in and I stayed with him while Al went to wash out the bottle. I gradually walked a little ways away from him as the other cows were coming in curious about the little one. The farther I walked off the closer the cows and calfs came into the baby. I got far enough away that the mother came over to her calf. He tried to stand up and could only get his back legs up and I just knew his front legs were broke. I stood and watched as this brave little calf got the strength and courage to get up and struggled over to suckle its mother. That is a very good sign. I told Al not to call me today if this baby has died. I dont want to know, I have been so cry baby about it I cant be that way today at work. I just pray that he is allright and that the prayers and love have saved him.Still sober.. this is my story and Im sticking to it. I love all of my friends here. Thanks for taking the time to share my life with me.. And as always, remember to play nice with people cause you never know if that may be your last time with them.. Love Y'Vonne
