Week 9-prepping for cerclage surgery

Well, I guess the time has finally come. Tomorrow, I have my surgery to get my abdominal cerclage. I have an incompetent cervix. It's a little scary to have surgery but this will cerclage will keep my cervix closed and give me the best opportunity to carry my baby to full-term without bed rest.
Thanks to Kelly0713. One day in April I was reading a discussion about second trimester loss/incompetent cervix in the Pregnancy after Loss/Infertility group. Kelly had responded to someone and mentioned the tac (transabdominal cerclage). I was curious so I researched it. I'm grateful that I will be able to have my tac placed by one of the best tac surgeons in the country and now have a chance to carry my baby to term. I'm going to take the rest of this week and all of next week off work. It'll take time to heal. I'm sure the first few days after surgery will be challenging, but it'll be worth it to have peace of mind. Thank you everyone for your support over these last few months. Please keep me in your prayers. My baby and I could use as many positive thoughts/vibrations as possible.

Wow I guess I didn\'t realize how invasive the surgery would be. Poor thing! I wish you a safe procedure and a easy & quick recovery. All while baby is safe. Thinking about you and so happy you are at this point. :)

Wow week 9 :)))) Wishing you a successful surgery and a smooth recovery. I have had abdominal surgery...during recovery you suddenly discover how much you really use those abdominal muscles :) But I would do it again in a heartbeat. So I know you will do wonderfully. Take good care of yourself. Sending supportive thoughts to you and your baby.

I am so glad that you are doing this! You are truly in great hands with Dr. Haney! Tell him I said hi and made it to 29 weeks :) if you remember...

It\'s a scary experience having open abdominal surgery during pregnancy, but it\'s so worth it to bring your baby home healthy. I know this is the right thing and I\'m glad you are taking the time you need to heal. I will be thinking of you and looking forward to updates. You can do it!!!!
