Wednesday,tired and disillousioned,nothing new then
Good morning journal, the time is now 8:54am and I have been awake since just before 7:00am,I have finally decided to come here simply to kill time.My wife finally managed to get hold of a number for the wheelchair company and called them on my behalf, yes,I am on their list,no,they haven't begun to make my chair yet. When my wife asked why there was such a delay as I had been measured for one on August 21st she was given the following explanation. As my wheelchair is being custom made especially for me,there is a strict criteria that must be followed, they are only allowed to make a certain amount of custom chairs in one day,my name is on the list, yes, but because of the limitations placed on them as to how many they can make in a day,my chair will not be ready until the middle,or even towards the end,of November,no,I don't understand it either. So,I guess I am stuck at home until then,I become exhausted easily if I have to venture outside our home for any length of time,so I try and limit trips outside to only those which are absolutely necessary.Speaking of which,my wife and I went to keep an appointment with the citizens advice bureau yesterday morning,we have decided, reluctantly,to go down the route of taking out a debt relief order to give us a little breathing space from our creditors.Since my collapse and incapacitation from work fourteen months ago almost,we have been using the little bit of savings we had to pay the minimum payments possible to those we owe money to.Now,sadly, the savings we once had are now gone, eaten up by trying to continue to give our creditors something, and, occasionally trying to eat sometimes.Anyway, the lady that we saw was called Janet, she was very understanding, and, the good news is we qualify for the debt relief order, the not so good news is that it will cost one hundred and eighty of our good old British pounds for the courts to put it in place,......it never rains but it pours. After we pay the fee,our creditors are not allowed to contact us or start any recovery action for any money we owe to them for twelve months,if,at the end of that twelve month period our circumstances haven't changed, our debts are then null and void and we can start over with a clean slate. It isn't ideal, but we have exhausted every other avenue in our efforts to keep on paying what we can,the truth is,we can no longer keep paying because the money is simply not there. It's a bit like being declared bankrupt, only this is voluntary,we are playing for time,if,or when, the disability people finally get around to giving me a decision on my application for help,we may be able to look at things again, but for now,we are financially broke. Now all we have to do is come up with one hundred and eighty pounds for the courts,we can do it,but we risk not eating for a week or two, seriously, that's how bad things are,but it must be paid so we will just have to tighten our belts a little more, any tighter and they'll cut us in half!. My wife also called the mental health team two days ago,the lady she spoke to said she would give my details to her superior and someone would definitely call us back,.......two days later, not a word,so much for the health service that I paid into for forty three years. My referral to the occupational therapist which was supposed to be done ASAP?,nothing,......my referral to social work to see about getting aids fitted in our home, shower seat, bath rails etc;,......nothing.Is it any wonder that I am tired and disillousioned?,and no,I don't know if I've spelled that correctly nor do I care all that much, you get the gist of my meaning, yes?,okay then. Now,just before I end this particular episode of the life and times of a demented soul,I have to report that my telephone rang just now,on the other end was someone called Dave from mental health,he informed me that they have some new social workers starting on Friday and that he will make sure that I am allocated a new caseworker then,........THANK YOU!!!!!!. I think I'll wait to see what,if anything, actually happens before I start doing cartwheels around the room though, until next time journal, may God and the social care department walk with us.

Scott, I am amazed by your strength, I don\'t know if I could handle all that has been thrown your way. When I read your journal I realize, how small my personal issues are. And I gather strength from you because of it. Please take care, There does appear to be light at the end of the tunnel and it may not be a train. Take care, Bill
