wednesday thursday
spent Wednesday with Janie. She started the day off a bit bossy (maybe she was feeling a bit nervous?) but she settled down as we did her errands and took her to the laundromat. She was getting along well with George - which is something I sometimes worry about. She's internalized all the bullshit about gay = sinful and gets pissed off at me whenever I talk about our anniversary. Thankfully there was none of that this time... and she thanked him for his help. Took her for a short visit with Dad. He didn't recognize us, we had to tell him a couple of times who we were.
thurs - today. spent several hours cleaning in Mom's basement. Just a teaspon to carry away Mt. Everest, but at least a dent was made. George, the handy one, bought some insulation to stuff in the basement windows because none of them really close properly and COLD air (it was 3º this AM) was blowing in. visit with Dad was short - we got there around 3:30, he had already been to physical therapy, so he was tired. Maybe because of the exercise he was more oriented today, didn't have as much trouble knowing who we were. I thought it was funny that later on he needed to be reminded of who I was but he had NO trouble identifying George - which he did with a big smile and a joyous chuckle.

Sometimes there\'s good medicine in little teaspoons. With Janie, I\'m betting sticking to the practical helps calm her. You\'re doing really well at getting through some pretty tough interpersonal circumstances! I\'m sure it\'s not easy to go from her to a dad who\'s having trouble recognizing you.

I am so thankful the George is there to help you balance out the family stuff. Sounds like your dad has turned a corner for the better. Normalcy .. as much as possible is probably helpful for Janie ... I am not sure if anyone has said this to you ... you are a wonderful son.
