Wednesday musings

When posters talk about missing gambling I feel very sorry for them. So many people had a "lifestyle" based around their gambling. They talk about their gambling friends and the social aspect of it. I used to go with friends sometimes, but overall, it was a pretty solitary endeavor, just me and the machine. And for the last month or so it wasn't fun at all, I was on a mission, not there to *play*. Of course, I never walked out of there with any money, so "mission failed". I have no fond memories of the casino at all. Maybe that's why I don't have urges to return, because I had already overdosed before I chose to stop.
Someone else referred to the difference between "problem gambling" and an addiction. I'm pretty sure it's just sematics, whether I was a problem gambler or a compulsive gambler or degenerate gambler or gambling addict doesn't make any difference. I needed to stop and I needed help to do it because i wasn't doing it myself.
Going down to Texas to celebrate my parent's wedding anniversary, so the only access I'll have to this site starting Saturday thru Wednesday will be through my phone. It will be nice to get outta Dodge for a while!
Gamble free Wednesday!!!

Keep it simple Resolve. Problem gambling can be making a few bets for one\'s own good and it scares them to quit. A compulsive gambler is entirely different. Not semantics. Ask your counselor if you have doubts. .we all are pulling for you as we have been in similar situations as you. It is no fun, Good luck and KEEP IT SIMPLE. Don\'t out smart yourself.

Gambling on slot machines is a little less social than say black jack or the ponies. It\'s a little easier to cover up losses but that\'s just an opinion. With black jack or the ponies, people would see how much you bet and then see the outcome aka \"losing one\'s shirt\". lol No hiding from that. With people who played the machines, I would hear a lot of \"oh, I broke even\" and you never really knew.

I have one major fond memory as my horse won the Kentucky Derby last year - It was a 20-1 horse so I won big. Strangers from two different states came up and shook my hand. But that little accomplishment didn\'t last that long. And I would care less now. Easy come, easy go.
