Wedding Wings
Hello my dearies,
Well the blessed event (or set of events!) has come and gone, and the blessing will linger forever, we hope and pray!
Last Wednesday, my 28 year old son Byron and his beloved Caitlin exchanged vows, privately, on an island.
On Thursday, they each had a party with their male and female best friends, separately.
On Friday, both families came into town for a lobster dinner. Mmm!
On Saturday, we all went for morning runs and then gathered for the reception at 4 pm... and boogied and bopped until the wee hours!
It was a lovely home-made local wedding party, with everything coming from friends and made by hand. Even the beer! Byron made dance tapes. They each read a nice speech and then each parent and close friend shared a few thoughts.
I said that if you designed a wedding with the instincts of a pure heart, this is what it would look like.... and that no one would have had a better time than Andy. He would have said "F***ing-A!" That got a laugh. It just kind of popped out of me, haha. That's Andy for you. (We missed him so much this weekend. I also recalled some really terrible times in his cancer journey though, and gave thanks for his ultimate peace.)
And in my address to the group, I said that there were three things I love about weddings: the call for people to commit to supporting the couple in life, the call for people to re-commit to their loving relationships (I made it more inclusive than just marriages) and the honoring of the love between a couple.
After others had spoken, my SIL Lyn the UU Minister-in-training took their hands and said, Byron do you take Caitlin and Caitlin do you take Byron, and after they said yes, she said, I pronounce that it is time to DANCE! LOL such happy freestyling.
After the whole bash, Drew and I came up to my parents' place (which my sibs and I are slowly acquiring... lovely but daunting responsibility!) for R&R. In this case R&R has included: a run every day, cooking good food, tracking it ALL on Weight Watchers Online to which I have re-committed(!) in an effort to de-fluff, and helping sort out the happy debris of life.
I'm going back home tomorrow -- can't wait to see my doggies -- and back to work next Monday. Really nice to take a week off! The following weekend I'll be near Cape Cod at a weekend for women who've lost a loved one to brain cancer... a tiny bit concerned about how much drinking they plan to do! LOL just doesn't fit within my daily points! I suppose I can have a blowout evening... I'm sure not going to skip my beloved MEALS!!!

What a wonderful celebration! I am sure Andy was with you enjoying every minute - especially you comment about F***ing-A!
I really don\'t think drinks on the weekend count in your daily points....

Sounds like a wonderful time! I just love,LOVE these kind of weddings...straight from the heart and simply beautiful. Love to think of you relaxing! Someday soon I am going to recommit to WW online too!!
That is so unique, I just love it. I hope your are happy it sounds like so much fun. Now be good on your cape cod weekend. Beer points add up very fast. But everything in moderation LOL...
