Wedding anniversary
Today is my wedding anniversary, 15yrs but 1st one alone. It's turning out to be much more emotional than I thought it would be. Very tearful. Glad I had the foresight to take the day off work. Trying to pull myself together. I had made plans to spoil myself today, massage, pedicure, dinner with a friend but now think I just want to be alone and grieve. Watched our wedding video last night. So much love and joy. So happy to be starting our life together. So naive saying those sacred vows, "until death do us part". I don't imagine any bride or groom really thinks about those words other than some hazy day far in the future when we're both old and gray. So hard learning to accept that the life you thought was ahead of you is gone. Scary too at the thought of handling it all alone. So happy for the time we did have together and trying to focus on all the wonderful memories we made. As the Garth Brooks song goes, the dance was worth the pain. Would do it all again in a heartbeat. Love you much Peej.

Just hang in there and do what YOU want. Please know I will be thinking of you and hoping you can have some peace and comfort today. Your new friend, John.
Do what you want today. The anniversary days are always hard, but the first literally knocked me off my tracks. Be gentle with self.
Hugs,
Val
Liz , , Val is right . . do what you want today. If staying in and grieving feels right, then it is. It\'s a private day of memories that can\'t be truly shared with others. The year of \"firsts\" can be so very hard. I\'m sending you lots of peaceful healing energy to endure this day with a glad heart when you fall into bed asleep tonight. You were blessed to have had the time you had . . . always hold on to those memories. Hugs and prayers, D
Tears are swelling up in my eyes as I read your post and the responses. My first anniversary is 9/10 without Al. Of all the special days and holidays, I think that one will be the hardest because it was \"ours\". I am doing pretty well but there are days I still wonder why do I have to go the rest of my earthly path alone.
Hugs, Linda
I\'m thinking of you. Hugs, Sandy
The first 2 wedding anniversaries I faced were very painful as I focused on the loss not only of my beloved wife but our future. This last anniversary although sad was much less painful as I focused on the gratitude for the life we shared. Sending you a big hug today. (the anniversary kind of is a symbol of the love we got to experience in our life that many people dont. I find that kind of humbling).
