We Made It!!!

Me and my family are now officially residents of Atlanta (or to be even more specific, Stone Mountain)!!! WOOT!!! We finally moved into the new-to-us home, which we have lovingly named "The Gateway," on Wednesday evening after closing that afternoon. We had the UHaul unloaded and returned before nightfall... yes, we were highly motivated to spend that night on an air mattress in our own space.

So far, me and the hubby and the furbabies are all settling in nicely. However, there was one small bout of tears from yours truly yesterday. I think it was caused by a combination of overwork, poor sleep, a touch of homesickness for the Midwest, and plain overwhelm at all the work ahead of us... to rebuild our lives so far from the only town we've ever known (St. Louis).

This house is also much bigger than our old one, and I find that kinda scary to navigate and attempt to properly fill out. Not only will this be our home, but it will also be a haven for family and friends when they travel to come stay with us. I just soooooo want to get this new phase of life well-balanced.

So, I'm both elated and terrified. *sigh* Will all these mixed feelings ever go away?

New life... Rebirth... Adventure... Don't only believe the hype.  ;)

Oh, and may I proudly present "The Gateway" ...!!!...

That is a beautiful home and I am sure you will be happy here. Here is a suggestion, you and your husband should sit, turn on some meditation music like Weightless by Marconi union and just feel love and comfort flowing into the home. Close your eyes and imagine great things happening in this home. Feel these things and take deep breaths. Know that comfort is within you as much as in within this house. This is the gateway to a new world of possibilities. There is a verse in spanish that I like, "Recuerda que el ave no es del nido en el que nace si no del cielo en el que vuela" translates to "Remember that the bird is not of the nest in which it is born but of the sky in which it flies"
You belong because you belong, not because of where you are. Live and enjoy new things. Change is scary to the comfortable brain, but soon you will find peace.

Thank you! I finally got everything out of boxes, put away, and my art up on the walls. Now it's starting to feel more like home. I also smudged, played music, and burned vanilla incense today. A few more minor repairs, some new-to-me furnishings to fill in some bare spots, and a couple rugs and curtains, and I'll be all set...
