We have Progress

Well mum has finally seen the Geriatrician and her diagnosis is that she is severely depressed and also showing signs of dementia, so now we wait for the antidepressant medication to take effect and then she will be re assessed to see just how bad the Dementia is. It's so hard seeing her like she is, especially as she is aware something is wrong.

Mum has recently been back to see the Geriatrician and even though we were quite sure she had Dementia, getting the diagnosis confirmed has been so upsetting for my sister & I. Mum has been diagnosed with Moderate/Severe Dementia. The thought of eventually losing our mother to this disease has bought us so many mixed emotions, sadness, anger, and at the same time trying to keep all these emotions from her as we don\'t want to stress her, she is 67 and even though she has now been officially diagnosed, our step father will not discuss anything with us and tells us not to mention anything about what is going on to mum which is frustrating because mum is very aware of what is going on and things need to be put in place while she still has some idea of what she does and does not want but he won\'t let us girls help in any way. It would be great to chat to others in the same position
