We are not alone..........
After hearing from our nephew in KC who said he had looked in on my page to catch up on what I have been doing, I looked back and I was surprised to see that I last wrote "a day in the life of....." entry more than a year ago! I have posted a couple of responses to requests for information, but I haven't been blogging daily happenings. A lot has been going on, but I have been lax as far as putting it in writing. This is most unusual for me because all through the years I have kept a journal. We called it "our family history." I didn’t realize that I have missed journaling until I sat down tonight. I have been having recurring bouts with a long-time cervical disc injury and this afternoon I went for an acupuncture treatment and then went to my yoga class. I got home a little while ago. I feel so much better than before I went. This always is so in both cases. I thought about skipping yoga tonight because I haven’t been feeling all that good emotionally at times lately, but I’m so glad now that I forced myself to do it. Tonight there were 9 of us who have been together for a while and have similar, but not exactly the same slant on things.....a professor at Virginia Intermont College, a graphic artist, a photographer, a male nurse, a retired gal nurse, a medical doctor, a married couple who are both in real estate.....and me. I guess we all were in a reflective mood because we found ourselves having an impromptu discussion for several hours. We somehow naturally fell into an exchange of views on life and living, what is (and who are) meaningful to us in our lives, what has made us think and feel as we do, a recent Wayne Dyer book, history, the Bible, loss of loved ones, interesting insights (both pro and con) into the thinking of today’s college students, etc. It was refreshing to give and take without having the usual worry about controversy or offending somebody. I know anyone reading this could be thinking that a time like I have described sounds “corny” and could not possibly have been a true sharing of ourselves, but tonight was unique; one of those unexpected happenings that comes along every once in a while between folks who are willing to share with an open mind. We visit for a short time before and after class, but tonight was the first time doing this. I came away with a feeling of knowing myself better and with things I want to think about in more detail. All too often the thought that we are alone in our thoughts and feelings can be devastating so an exchange like the unplanned one tonight helps to put things into perspective. It was interesting that despite not doing our usual yoga poses, I still felt that I had been able to unwind. It looks like the filter between my brain and my fingers has gotten disconnected so unless I just close my eyes and click “post” without thinking further about what I’ve written, this soul-searching entry will end up in my journal.......rather than as a blog entry. I must have needed to record what I’m thinking and feeling tonight because time seems to have gotten away from me. I fed the kitties before I left the house earlier and I made my tummy happy after class when I met a friend for supper. However, it just now occurred to me that I haven’t given Honey, our toy poodle, her din-din yet. I’ll quit writing now and make her tummy happy with her din-din, too.......after I apologize to her so that she doesn’t put me on the bad mommy list !
