Waxing musical, part I...

I've been making music for over thirty years now. Music has always been a constant presence in my life, and after a schizophrenic diagnosis in June of 2013, I am only now beginning to understand why. From a young age, I've heard music in some form or another- even when there was no music playing at all!
I've been treated for schizophrenia for a good while, now. My auditory hallucinations and whatever visuals I had are gone, as are my tactiles and olfactories. But the musical hallucinations never left. I'm not sure what I'd do if they did, truth be told. Looking back on almost thirty nine years, I realize that the constant stream of music going through my head at any given point in time has been largely musical hallucinations.
I don't know whether to say it's a blessing or a curse. I'm grateful for the inspiration that they've given me, but I'm sure I've driven many others crazy, what with me hearing things no one else could perceive. I can't say I'd blame them.
...Now that I'm getting my schizophrenia sorted out, it's all painfully embarrasing. Or most of it, anyway. I'm going to have to figure out what's real and what's a product of hallucinations before I start moving forward with music.
