WatchOut
Kit is so small! He follows me everywhere and its hard to know exactly where he is in relation to me. He likes to run circles around me when we're in the kitchen which can be a problem when I'm trying to wash the dishes or take out the trash. It came to a scarey point the other night when I heard a loud, painful yep when I accidentally stepped on his paw. I picked him up and hugged him and told him I was sorry. He's resilient and after a few minutes of staying away, was back to his circling me. His need to go out sign is still beyond me and I have to guess a lot. I'd like to get him on a schedule, but that will take some time. He's always trying to please me and there are times he will go out even when he doesn't need to. Part of it may be that he gets a treat when he makes it easy. Sometimes, he'll just sit inside the gate or maybe walk around a bit and be ready to come back in. I figured he would need to go out when we wake up in the morning, but, apparently, he doesn't. I'm trying to "cure" these unneeded trips by not giving him a treat. I have to watch him in the yard because he tries to dig at the fences and that would be bad because I don't trust the dogs on one side although they're friendly with the fence between them, they're territorial since they're chained. The other side of the yard leads to a vacant house and the gate to it isn't always closed and he could get out. Since I have to watch him, I know if he's killed any weeds or done a spin.(If you don't what I'm talking about, killing weeds is peeing and a spin is a poop.) To get a treat, he has to kill some weeds and/or do a spin and make it easy to go out and come back in by allowing me to put the choke chain on. Depending on what is done, he could get a cube, strip, or Puperoni,, cube being the lowest and puperoni the highest. Waking up is a new experience. Its a battle of play. He's after me when I'm dressing and after that, its really play time. The bed is high and puts him in easy reach and him of me. I could spend all day doing that! He still bugs me about being on the computer as he is now, but its becoming less frequent. Being put in the bedroom with the door closed so I can bring in the groceries or laundry or a visitor is at the door really irritates him and he lets me know it with high pitched barks. Leaving him to make trips doesn't sit well either. As you know, he has a name tag now, but I hadn't noticed how big the print was. His name is so big, I can read it from a few feet away without my glasses. Anybody who meets him will know his name. Bed room rules still have to be learned. No food, especially on the bed,,, toys will be tolerated to a point,,,licking the sheets won't be.The cuddling and play is still great. All in all, we're making progress and that's all we can ask.
