Watching G Man Grow

If you're old enough to remember Mac Davis, you would remember the song title paraphrased above.  If you aren't, I envy you, but only a little. Since settling into my own digs, I've gotten to spend more time with my son.  There's another song lyric that goes, "I see a little more of me every day."  Jimmy Buffet wrote that, if you're keeping score. He's talking more.  The other day, we had what I can only describe as our first conversation.  Sure, it was about the Transformers, and it was pretty nonsensical as far as I was concerned, but we kept it up throught dinner.  I love a good dinner conversation, and will indulge just about any topic.  I was happy to oblige and help my budding raconteur develop his skills. Next dinner, he brought the subject up again.  What do you know?  I made an impression.  He's doing well in preschool, wowing his teacher with his willingness to help.  God, I'm enjoying this!  It's been a long, hard road, and it's got at least a few more dark bends in it, but the little guy riding shotgun has been great company lately.  Maybe I'll let him tune the radio.  See if we can catch some Mac or Jimmy for a few miles...
