Wasted Time

As I go about my day, I know that I could be more productive and that is certainly something that I personally need to work on. I have a lot of cleaning and getting rid of junk to accomplish. But then I think about what my husband does all day long while he is out of work. He gets up, he goes to the bathroom, gets a glass of water, checks his sugar (he is Type 1 diabetic), goes outside to smoke, walks to his moms (next door), stands out and smokes, gets a cup of pop and I would be surprised if he doesn't already put some vodka in it, goes inside, lays down on the couch or sits in the rocking chair watching tv, gets up in 10 minutes and goes outside to smoke. Now repeat that ALL day long with an occasional walk back to our house, eating lunch, driving to town to get more cigars and/or vodka. You might catch him mowing one of our yards and surfing the internet in between watching tv, smoking/drinking. What a sad life. What a way to take for granted the day that God has given. Just reading this makes me want to do more with my day. If he took as many smoking breaks whenever he had a job, it is no wonder he was let go. I mean seriously one cannot be productive at their job when they are constantly going outside to smoke. I feel like this will be a continual problem with future employment. Not to mention going into work smelling of vodka each morning due to drinking the night before. It wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't drink during work as well. I fear that our family will never be able to afford to do anything we need. Such as paying off debt, building or buying a little bit larger home to fit our family of 5. And all the time he is only concerned with getting what he wants, doing what he wants. It is maddening and heartbreaking. I pray that one day he opens his eyes to see the damage he is doing before it is too late.
