Was Number 34 at the Food Bank
whew!
Being number 34 at the Food Bank limited my choices, but I'm still grateful for whatever I got. We pay $5 a week, but get far more than that in return.
But for those of you who are math-challenged or not familiar with food banks, being #34 meant that 33 folks went ahead of me. It ought to be better next week because my floor will go first and I may be number 10 or 12 or something like that.
I got several bottles of drinking water, 2 Asian pears, 4 tomatoes, one lean cuisine microwave meal, one box of cereal, one box of vanilla wafers, and 2 meat items.
Thank you, Lord.

Hi Judy :) thank you for sharing with us :) i\'m so happy, you\'re doing well, and got some very nice foods, and drinks, at the food bank :) my brother Bobby and his girlfriend go to the food bank where they live :) they get some pasta\'s, and some canned goods :)
wishing you a nice day, and many blessings, all throughout the season :) We appreciate you friend :)
I love how you are seeing the positive in how you get your turn at the food bank. I belong to a group here on DS and we are trying to come up with 3 gratefuls a day and it is hard some days to come up with 3.
Not a bad deal.....one of the benefits of living in a senior community.....Next week you will have a better opportunity.......stay well Ron
I love you being grateful. Next time you will have more choices at the food bank.
How do they decide who gets which number? Do you just pick them out of a hat or something? I hope you get # 1 next time. I\'m glad to did get some food that you can use.
last year was last time at a food bank for me....peanut butter, pasta, and canned spagetti sauce being the monthly regular stuff....from a church, with a long line outside cause only a little room in the office.
at another church, ten years before, there were a bunch of chairs, with it almost like musical chairs, with everybody moving one chair forward when the person in front of them got their food.
Hope you pickings are better next week :). I didn\'t know you had to pay for the food bank.
I am suprised you have to pay for food bank also. After all, they typically are donations, I thought. Although there is a big food warehouse near here that I did some volunteer work at a couple years ago. The pallets of food was astronomical from donations directly from food manufacturers as well as indivdual donations. The person that worked there said they sell the food for, I think he said 75cents a pound, or somewhere around there. And that churches and soup kitchens bought the food. Well, when I got in line for the first time a few weeks ago at a produce give away for low income, guess what name was on the tractor trailor? that\'s right, it was the same place. It\'s called \"Second Harvest\". I wonder if they have one near you? I don\'t know if it\'s only local or what. But it was like an embaressment of riches. Interesting now that I think about it, because it was 90 percent produce, it wan\'t any of the canned goods and whatnot you would find at a church thing.
maybe it was 19cents, I don\'t really remember, cuz I was just surprised the food was sold, but I imagine it was to recoup expenses for distribution and storage.
so you pay $5 and then whatever you can find is free or is it discounted? i don\'t get it?
