WARNING: Read Warning Labels On Medicine

Saturday, September 06, 2008 – 8:15 P.M. I have spent most of today doing exactly what my doctor ordered – resting. I like doing something – anything to keep busy. The two infections I have, threw me for a loop. I am used to one now and then, but not two at the same time. They really made me feel tired.   My PCP brought three prescriptions. She told me I was supposed to drink plenty of fluids with one, and take the other with food. Of course, thinking I already knew everything, I tuned out the latter part, which turned out to be a mistake. About 15 minutes after taking the medicine, I had a bad reaction. I was barely able to move my arms, and felt extremely hot all over.   As though it came from a long distance away, I barely heard a voice asking if I had eaten food with the medicine. I said no, I did not know I was supposed to do that. With my PCP helping, I somehow managed to get some food into my stomach. She opened my patio door to let in some cool air, which I needed. It took nearly half an hour for me to get back to normal. I doubt if I will make that same mistake tomorrow.   Although I slept most of the day, I did watch one video called “There Will Be Blood.” My sister told me she had seen it, and that it was good. I thought it was a complete waste of time. I have three more videos to watch after an Indy car race in Chicago tomorrow. I also need to remember that my doctor wants me to call him.   Thoughts for Courage: “Who you are speaks so loudly I can't hear what you're saying.”   -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
