Warm Sunshine
Good morning. This past week has found me having many emotional ups and downs. Resolution knowing that my now impending divorce is a true factor in my life. Realizing that now that my life is half over and at a point where I wanted to be looking forward to start being with my companion and enjoying the hard work of a career and being together to explore the rest of our life together. I have found that I’m really starting from scratch: That my wife and companion wants this part of her life to not be without me, but away from me. Friends YES, companion NO. We figured out that she will take ¾ of our retirement and half of the savings, I get the house and bills. This means I tighten my belt a bit and keep headed in the direction of hope for the future. Both daughters are supporting me and are understanding.
I took yesterday to drive up to my parents place to tell them about what I still feel is a little bit of being a failure. Over coffee as my Mom was making a batch of sour-dough sweetrolls I told them of the plans for divorce. Without missing a lick of the rolling pin my Mom said “GOOD, it’s about Time! You deserve a chance to be Happy!” My dad just smiled. When I told them when that it will be finalized , which will be on their 57th anniversary, They both said that would the best gift I could have given them. They said they were proud of me and the man and father I was, but they had become sad years ago that I would not know the true joy of companionship that they knew. Talk about being hit with a shovel! Makes me wonder how blind I was to what my marriage has looked like from the outside looking in.
I know I will still struggle and that there will be many things that me and the Wife need to work out and work through. But as I sit here in an empty house this morning drinking my coffee, I smile at the sunshine coming in the back door and I realize that my Wife left me years ago! Hello Out There! Looking through the tears I’m crying, I SEE A NEW WORLD COMING. Hugs everyone, Keep me in your prayers!

i will be keeping you in my prayers, WT. your mom and dad\'s response to hearing about your divorce only confirms your decision to divorce a healthy one, for YOU. and it is so good to read too about how your daughters are also supportive and understanding. you are going to get through this, with the loving support of your loved ones.
yes, be assured of my prayers for you during this difficult time.
Hindsight is a wonderful tool -- and I can\'t tell you how many people told me the same thing your folks just did AFTER my divorce was final! But you can\'t look back, and hopefully, you won\'t have any regrets. Any day is the FIRST DAY of the REST OF YOUR LIFE! Make it the BEST OF YOUR LIFE! And remember my mantra: SOMETHING WONDERFUL WILL HAPPEN FOR ME! And it did.
Continued positive thoughts and prayers coming your way.
I could have written this same journal entry. I was astonished how many people were happy that my ex and I divorced, and I now I understand why. I was only living a half life, and that life was completely dominated by his desires, his cares, his needs, not mine.
Yes, you will get through this and THRIVE!!!
Sending loads of hugs!
Wishing you the best.
Thank Yiu, All for your support. I will still Hope for us, and I know there will be many more hurdles, but knowing my family and friends are behind me means the world.
Again Thank You ALL.
Im so glad you have family. I don\'t. All I have are my friends. I dread the day I have to tell my mother what is going on. It\'s bad enough what I am dealing with, then I\'ll have to deal with HER shit about it too. No thanks! But my friends are my family. It really is awesome when they back you up like they do, isn\'t it. Im excited for you man! Everything will be ok
Wt, What a good confirmation you got from your parents, and your girls. You\'re moving in the right direction. And your outlook seems great. I always try to be grateful, even in the darkest moments. You noticed the sunshine, good start. All the best. And those sourdough sweet rolls sound good!!!
\"When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.\" All the best ....
