Walked out of church

Sigh.
New priest and I was so hoping he would be good.  Instead he says how can you have a spirituality without a religion.  He said to do so was selfish as then you get to set your own rules.  And religion is what gives us boundries and keeps up on the right path.
For more than 30 years I have said I had a strong faith, but no religion.  I take care of my children, stood behind my husband through 23 years of being military, I don't drink, don't smoke, don't swear.   I try to help others and I give money to charity.
How is it not selfish to think yours is the only true religion and everyone else is wrong?  How is it not selfish to tell others they aren't good enough just because they don't belong to your church?  How is it not selfish to deny other communion because they are not of your faith?
I have attended Catholic services with my Catholic husband for 13 years and have had conflicts at times with the teachings to the point I have to leave, but this was by far the worst as it was a direct insult to how I have chosen to live my life.  It is not selfish of me to not make vows to a single religion when I know I do not share its beliefs and I know I never will.  That is honesty and ethics.
I have just never been so offended before.  Don't know if I can go back.  That is going to make life "fun".

I would have walked out too. Our church recognizes and accepts all faiths and spiritual thinking. I have a few fb friends who call themselves Christian but hate so many people and their thinking. Love is love, no matter what religion and if we are living along those lines, then we are doing right and not selfish.
