whew...........
Almost to the day we were back in court again with Todd. This time he was clean and sober and doing much better. Strangely enough - he was almost locked up. The judge was ready - had the police officers in-waiting w/ guns and all. T had violated his probation numerous times and was warned time and time again that being locked up was a very strong possibility. Fortunately, he "escaped" being locked up by the skin of his teeth. I guess I convinced the judge that this wasn't the way to go. He said "Against my better judgement".........and decided to place him on house arrest. At first when I heard that house arrest was a possibility - I was upset but now I am glad he is. Not only because of what the alternative could have been but he needed a wake up call. He's had some good stretches of doing well to slipping back again into old behaviors. Even though he has been doing well.....I do know that he slips more than he should. So it is a good shot in the arm for him. This house arrest does cramp our style a bit but it's better than the other option.

Hope he realizes that there is probably no option should there be a next time. I suppose this will really test both of you.....boundaries and accountability. Hang in there!!!!!
Don\'t you hate the fact that the court system gives them so many chances though? If they were tough with my son from the get go then a lot of what we\'ve been through could have been avoided.
