Voiceless

I have no voice,
I have no right.
For I am the daughter,
The lowest of the low.
My thoughts do not matter,
My ideas do not count.
You can hit me,
No one would know.
You can yell at me, beat me,
No one would care.
For I have no voice,
I am the voiceless.

Stephanie, remember one thing, \'THERE IS NO EXCUSE, FOR ABUSE\". You have a voice. If you are truly being physically or sexually abused, you must tell someone. And remember, if you are being abused, it is NOT about you. It is unfortunate, but there are probably thousands of children that have parents who either don\'t have the parenting skills they need to be a good supportive parent, or they came from abusive homes themselves and have passed it along to their children. I was abused and put in a foster home when I was 15. Like you, I had no self confidence, and thought I was the ugliest, most stupid, idiot that ever walked the face of the earth. No one thought I would amount to anything. It was very hard to live with all that going on there. I was humiliated daily. My mother broke my nose. My hair was pulled out so many times that I used to tell everyone my hair was coming out gray. (because I have a gray streak that I\'ve had all my life) My way of dealing with things was to make everyone happy. If I could keep them laughing, I didn\'t get in trouble. However, to keep them laughing, I looked like an idiot a lot. My father busted my ear drum when I was about 10. He used to whip us so hard with a belt that I would put about 10 pair of underwear on so it wouldn\'t hurt so bad. It didn\'t cover the back and legs though. He didn\'t stop whipping until I screamed about 20 times. He wanted to make sure I felt it. I wasn\'t allowed to read ANY books. Crazy as it sounds, he thought I should concentrate on my studies, little did he know, the more you read, the more you know. I could go on and on. At one time, I thought I could write a book about my abuse. But I let it go. I knew that it wasn\'t about me, I found a way to be proud of myself, and it took a while, but I know I\'m not the ugly, idiot they made me out to be. As far as making something of myself. I have been privileged to have some good jobs through out the years. But my greatest accomplishment was my sweet boys. I broke the cycle of abuse. You can to. You are a gift from God, and you may be treated wrongly, but you can turn that around and be proud of yourself and have confidence in yourself. You have goals, WONDERFUL! I know you\'ve heard this before, but really, you can be who you want to be. You can come out of this. I have faith in you. Hugs, Danette

Mental abuse which is hard to prove does just as much damage as physical abuse. Believe me. I got the mental abuse and I am still dealing with it.

This is a caring community of loving mothers and you have a voice here. To feel abused, ignored, invisible is not okay and I hope that you will continue to seek the help that you need. Only you can discover what that might look like for you. You are powerful, full of promise and can be and do anything with your life that you set your mind and heart on. Find your voice... it\'s in there and begin using it to create your life. We care and what you say matters here to each of us. Take care of you. Hugs, Joanie
