Visit to neurosurgeon today
I had my appointment with my neurosurgeon today. He was relaxed, less busy this visit. I guess he watched me walk in but I didn't see him. He says I'm walking like Frankenstein and we had a chuckle about that but we both know my gait is affected by my back and the pain. He sees me dragging my leg a little. I didn't think it was so noticeable. He said he was sorry to have to be out of town for the next ten days as he wants to see me immediately following another extension/flexion exray which I got on my way home. The tech asked me if I had a curve in my spine. I said no and he said oh. Hate it when they do that. So back to doctor's appointment; I'm put back on steroids for the pain, to make me comfortable he says. He told me I'm going backwards in my recovery. This is what happened after my first spinal surgery so I'm concerned and he is as well. I gAve in tonight and took a pain med for the first time in ages. So, no driving or operating heavy machinery, guess the plowing of the back forty will have to wait. Ha ha. Reading and loads of telly it is. Yay!! Back where I started. Can you tell I'm overjoyed. I know, sarcasm isn't attractive but I won't be either if I pack on more steroid pounds. My nerve conduction testing isn't for over a month and I dread that. I didn't cry today...much. I have to get over myself. I will never be what I was again, never who I thought I would be, but God says I am beautiful, beloved and His. What more can anyone say?

I am sorry to hear he said you were going backwards, but yet I understand.
I think aging isn\'t helping us and I know how you feel. This isn\'t what we had planned but we can deal with it. Day by day.
I don\'t like steroids either. I tired them once and they didn\'t help me with fibro pain. All they did was kept me from sleeping and eating, hopefully they will help you.
Hope you get feeling better soon. You are one special person and glad you are in my life.
What more can anyone say? You are beautiful, beloved and my friend. I know you are disappointed about your progress. Been there, done that. I think the thing that hindered me most is that I believed each time (4 surgeries on lumbar, 2 cervical) that it would fix me. What it did was make me more functional than I was before the surgeries & in less pain. I have to be grateful for that because I would be bed bound without them.
I\'m glad to see your gratitude, hon. We have to stay there because without it, we will drown! Proud of you! ~ Karen
