Verses that talk about love

God commands us to Love:

Romans 13:8 “Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another.  If you love your neighbor you will fulfill the requirements of the law.”

Romans 13:10 “Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of the law.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 “Love is patient and kind.  Love is not jealous or boastful or proud (5) or rude.  It does not demand its own way.  It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.  (6) It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. (7) Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

Galatians 5:14 “For the whole law can be summed up in this one command:  ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Galatians 6:10 “Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially those in the family of faith.”

Ephesians 5:1-2 “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. (2) Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.  He loved us, and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.”

Colossians 3:12-13 “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. (13) Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you.  Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Colossians 3:14-15 “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.  (15) And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.  For as a member of one body you are called to live in peace.  And always be thankful.”

James 2:8-9 “Yes, indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (9) But if you favor some people over others, you are committing sin.  You are guilty of breaking the law.”
