There's no MS info related to this entry but I figured that DS would be te best place for me to let off steam. I have a boyfriend who is 13 years older than me whom I love very much. My parents don't like him because he is so old. Too old for me anyway. They think that I can do better and don't even admit that we're dateing even though it's been over 2 years. He's taken me to a million doctor's appointments and even to one of my mris. We've talked about getting married one day and I am scared of him not getting along with my family and vice versa. I don't want to lose him. Any thoughts are appreciated.

It sounds like he really loves you too and that is all that matters. If you marry him you\'re parents will come around and learn to accept him in the family. Parents always want the perfect \"fairy tale\" husband and life for their children but love is all that matters and if you two truly love each other then that is all that\'s important. Plus, a 13 year age difference is NOTHING for adults. I could understand their concern if he was like 30 years older but 13 is nothing. It\'s your life and you deserve to be happy.
at 27 hon your old enough to make up your own mind..and as treetracer says it sounds like he loves you..smile... my best friend is 42..grin..and her common in law husband is 30 this year...grin..they have lived together for 6 years now..and are just buying their 3rd house...smile....my sister is 6 years older than her husband...grin..
so yes hon... it is your life..not your familys...your happieness not theirs.... you would be marrying him ...not his mother and father..and he would be marrying you..not your mother and father..
the two of you would be living together..not with each of your prospective familes...smile
go where your heart takes you hon

Yo!!! kid you might consider asking ur parents if they are more interested in your happiness,OR do they think trying to run ur life is more important??Yup ur gonna sound like an asshole BUT they might get that message. u should only ask it if ur prepared to react to the answer you cant be daddy\'s lil girl & a mature woman capable of doing for urself also GL

Hi chipchip. My parents have told me that I don\'t KNOW what makes me happy. THEY do. How do I combat THAT mindset?
