Ups and Downs

I have had plenty of time to think tonight and have been reminded that we all have our ups and downs.  I think for me-- because of what I have been going through right now, mine do seem to be exagerated and having a full blown reaction at each little thing.   I do know I have some good, some bad......

BAD--  called 2 remaining creditors to try to do a settlement.  No go--- but 1 did lower the interest by a whopping 2%. whoop de doo.

GOOD--Can actually pay them off now but will be tight then again.

BAD-- Need some work done around here including new decks. Not sure I can afford it all right now if I do pay off that debt.  (Could take a chunk from his investment monies, but will have penalty besides taxes. Don't get full amt minus taxes for another year and a half)

GOOD--  BIL is handy and has offered to do alot of the work for me.  He and nephew's FIL could probably also do the decks for me but I need to make sure I have the $ accessible at least for their materials.

BAD--Got a card from my sister telling me to hang in there . I am stronger than I think. She also went on to say she knew I was upset with her (again) last time we spoke because of her being too bossy and controlling.  She loves me but won't be calling me anymore. To me that translated to good luck, I wash my hands of you.  Not exactly the love and support I was hoping for.  In turn, that makes me want to not bother my BIL so much even though he has told me to ignore her when she gets like that and that he does want to help me.

GOOD-- Last night a good friend and her boyfriend did stop over and visit for awhile. He did also take some of Dave's things that he liked and they are going to try to stop over sometime and help me sort through more stuff.(He knows electrical and tech stuff-- of which I have no clue.)

BAD-- Came home to low water pressure which regressed to none at all.  I am off the next 2 days and had more laundry, dishes , cleaning to tackle tomorrow am.  I am hoping it is back early tomorromiw am. I will take care of errands in the am .  Hopefully  water will be back til I get home.

GOOD--   A friend who was at Dave's service did call and we are meeting up after work On MOnday for dinner and to catch up.

The list  goes on ...I am finally coming around and seeing we all do have to deal with.

Interesting list. You are very introspective. I think the good here outweighs the bad. Stuff doesn't really matter that much in the end, but I see some good friends and BIL here who are supportive, and that's eternally valuable. God bless you.

hugs my friend. one day at a time. It will take time and patient to get things done. As for the deck. That can wait. Do what you can when you can. Let sister go, My only sister is the same. In fact, I never get any calls from any of my siblings. Know what, I am doing better and happier without their morose, negative, self centred attitude.

I think you just described a day in the life of... almost everyone, haha! I am sure with everything happening everything does seem so overwhelming and amplified. But it sounds like some good people are in your life who care about you.

Don’t shut your BIL out. He wants to help and stuff with your sister will hopefully settle. Telling you she loves you but won’t be calling is pretty passive aggressive like she wants you to call her. People are so funny. Emotional time for everyone and I think that just heightens stuff.

Unless the decks are unsafe maybe that can wait unless you feel it needs to happen because you are selling. But just tackle what you can. Start with the low hanging fruit. Have a great weekend!

If I lived near you, I would get a bunch of ds volunteers and build that deck for you :) and pay for the materials....:)

That is sweet. And I would feed you all and we would have a big bash to break it in. :)

I’m in. Decks are cake for me. Looks like you have to move to New England to get our services. Your ups will exceed your downs before you know it.

I wish I were closer to you two. The ups are sticking more and the downs don't carry quite the weight and extreme disappointment that they used to.

I am discovering that I can do this (and things I am unsure about I have found others who are stepping in and helping) and as you all have been trying to tell me--- it does not all have to be done tomorrow.
So I step back and see the dents I am making in what needs to be done. I will get there. (Just not as quickly as I would like.) This is one of those instances where I do believe divine intervention is STILL trying to tell me to be patient and persevere. (Both of which seem to grow harder as I get older. lol)

Let me assure you Kim in life our work is never finished. Yes a particular task may be done BUT then there are others that must be tended too. So take time for yourself enjoy life the task will always be there I'm 70 and the grass is still growing.

yorman1, you are right about that. I am 70 and I still have things to do. I do things when I can and if people do not like it, so be it.

Good for you, Kim! If you reflect on what you’ve all managed in the last few weeks, while under duress and dealing with a significant loss, imagine what you will do as you continue to heal and move on. You are doing great!
