Ups and Downs.....

It's been a while since I have posted anything.  Either too sad or don't want to go there.  So much has happened.  Well I made it through my 50th birthday thanks to friends.  John and I survived 4th of July but kept to ourselves.  Hard to be with other families and their kids during celebrations.  I know it's selfish but at the same time I think I'm saving them from the pain of watching me.  Had John's birthday in July also.  August is the only month that we do not have a celebration of some sort.  And Rachel loved a reason to celebrate....every date was important to her.  Guess we know why now.  I always wonder if somehow she knew how important each day was. I will have a new date soon...On October 9th the motorcycle association that John and many of our friends belong to are sponsoring a memorial ride for Rachel....."Rachel's Ride".  It will be a yearly event with the proceeds going to the local animal shelter in her name.  It was one of her passions....the care and shelter of animals.  I will post a flyer.  Sad news last month.  Her memorial site on Facebook disapeared.  I don't know who the administrator was and Facebook is useless as far as trying to contact.  No customer service what so ever.  I guess I will be building a new site.  I hate that I lost all those memories, comments and photos posted by her friends.  I sent Facebook an ugly e-mail telling them what I thought of their customer service, knowing they would never read it - but made me feel better.  lol     Anyways...hugs to all of you and thanks for giving me a place to vent!   Laura

Love the memorial ride with proceeds to a shelter. I need to think of how to channel the love and energy for Andy... something about pear trees, I think. Love is forever.

Hi Laura,
So glad you decided to update on what is going on in your life. I can understand laying low , it has not even been a year so I am sure you are still very tender. It all takes time to want to join activities and people. take your time and take care of yourself. You will know when the time is right for you to start moving along.
I love how you atre giving to animals. That is always one of my favorite things to help out. I think it is important that we protect those that have no voice.
Not sure what happened on FB. I have a memorial site for Richard on My space and that is working out well.Hugs, Inga

Reading about the memorial ride made me so happy! What a fitting and wonderful annual event to celebrate through the years. I know Rachel is smiling at the very thought!

FB is so frustrating. If/when you do get a new page up, there is a way to save all posts in a word document ~ Corrie\'s sister has been doing that for us for the past year ~ it\'s so worth it because FB is very arbitrary at times, as you know. We had kept Corrie\'s \"living\" page up and were intending on doing so indefinitely because so many people were posting but someone, apparently, took it upon themselves to report to FB that Corrie was no longer around so they unilaterally turned her page into a memorial page. Luckily it\'s still there but I don\'t count on anything...glad you got it off your chest by zapping them with an irate letter!

Sending lots of love and tight hugs ~ Debbie
