Updating my goal of becoming a medical assistant

Today I talked with a friend of my mom's and she is a medical assistant.  She works for a clinic where lots of doctors work.  Her program was very short----only 2 months!! Well I think it is because for her it was continuing education, as she already had medical education.  I looked up her school and then found a new governing body for medical assistants on the internet.  It is called American Medical Technologists or AMT.  I was  excited to find it because it is older than the AAMA and you still get certified it is just called "Registered" instead of "Certified".  So now I know I will still be able to sit for the big test and have those all important initials behind my name!!!
