Updated Protocol for Condition

I saw my neurosurgeon; well at least the PA, on Thursday. It was to make up for the follow-up I missed on Tuesday due to the car accident. I took my medications in to review and informed him of my new symptoms. I am returning to PT for the next six weeks, for both lumbar and cervical spine. I am to have another set of exrays done for again, lumbar and cervical before returning to the neurosurgeon in April. I am no longer to take my usual medications, using Aleve or Motrin for pain now. I was put back on Gabapentin for nerve pain, taking it 3 times a day. I was also taken off the Soma which I use for muscle spasms. No alternative was given.
At first I will admit to concern regarding the pain and not using my former prescription medication. I would rather not have to take them and rarely do so unless it is extremely bad. I realize I like knowing the medication is there if I really need it. I want to live a normal life, pain free and independent. Now I truly understand that I must accept my condition and embrace my new normal, in spite of the difficulties I face or will face. I am choosing to follow this six week protocol as I really want to see what works for me. So, no pain meds, PT twice a week and take my Gabapentin daily. Wish me luck folks. I'll keep you posted on the progress.
