Update on my new job.
I am so grateful to the Lord for this new job! For the first time, since Colleen's passing, I feel good about my life again. As the old gentleman deteriorates, I use more techniques that I once used with Colleen, and they work wonderfully! Each time he smiles at something I say, I can see Colleen's beautiful smile again, and that is priceless!!
Last night I was very upset! After my shift ended at midnight, I had some coffee and went to bed. I couldn't fall asleep. After some time I realized that I had forgotten to set my phone's alarm, so I got up and set the alarm. As usual, I then tapped on the "back" arrow a few times to go back to the phone's home screen. For some unknown reason, my stupid phone decided to choose a number from my contacts list, and dial it! I suddenly heard this ringing sound, while still trying to get back to the home screen. Then I panicked, and started tapping and swiping on the screen, but the ringing wouldn't stop! I had no idea who my phone was calling, because all kinds of sites appeared on the screen. Then a man answered the phone, and I just froze. I tried to recognise his voice, but couldn't. He kept on saying "hello", but I was too scared to say anything. Then he disconnected the call. Huge relief!! And then my phone rang,.........he called back!!!! It was my current employer (the old gentleman's son)!!! I apologized and tried to explain about my phone, but he just said "okay" and ended the call. It was exactly 1 am then. I felt like crying and I just had to talk to someone! So I got out of bed, went to the other lady who was on duty then, and told her all about my stupid phone!! She almost collapsed with laughter. Then she made me some coffee. You see, my phone had no signal on this farm, so I had to get a different sim card. And that is why my employer did not have my new cell number. Shit, I hate these stupid "touch screen" phones!!!!!

I tell everyone that my smart phone is much smarter than me. All I do is text and talk. Occasionally I look up stuff. Oh! I did find the flashlight - it only took 2 years LOL.
I hope all is well.
Tight hugs, M
Hugs. So glad you have a job that encourages you to give of your heart... you are such a loving person so it sounds like the perfect thing for you and your patient.
phones can be frustrating... sounds like the new job is just right for you... kudos. love ya!
How exciting that you are fulfilling your passion and using your gifts of care giving. I understand how wonderful that does feel in SO many ways.
Oh, those phones! I have called more people when I just meant to send a text and have pushed the \"face time\" when I so did not want to do that. LOL!
Lots of loving care for you as you continue to care for others,
XO Joanie
I just thought I would tell you that when my oldest and dearest friend was looking for someone to take care of her elderly father, I told her all about you and how you would be perfect if you weren\'t on the other side of the world. I think of you often and am so sorry about the phone thing - we all have things that frustrate us about technology.
Sending you lots of love,
Leda
It feels so great when we are doing something we enjoy. I think it\'s just awesome that you see Colleen in the midst of it.
Technology is so above me....most of it I just don\'t understand and I have \"butt dialed\" people when I have dropped my phone in my purse or put it in my pants pocket ....now that\'s embarrassing....hearing someone on the other end, saying \"hello, hello, hello\".....LOL You are not alone!!!!
(((((hugs)))) Vicki
So glad you are enjoying your new job. Those skills will continue to bless you as YOU bless others. Love and hugs Karen
Yes the phones are the pain we have to deal with like it or not. Glad you are happy in your new position. Hugs, Kathy
